So I think I’m ALMOST, finally getting the hang of this.
Trying to connect Indigo to my generator. (see data from MTQQ Explorer below) The 2 items I’m kind of interested in for the moment are the Battery Voltage and the Utility Voltage.
My connector subscription topics are:
0:generator/#
0:generator/generator/Status/#
I’m working on the believe that since the topics I’m interested in are both under the “STATUS” tree, I should be good with this connector.
For my Trigger, my topic strings are:
Match: generator
Match: generator
Match: Status
Any:
Again, working on the assumption that the 2 items I’m interested in are with the “status” tree.
BUT, when it comes to create my Shims devices, the Topic Field and the Unique ID Value are exactly the same for both items.
So my question is where to I create the difference? Do I need to create 2 Connectors, and follow thru from there? Do I need to create 2 separate Triggers with different Message Types, or is there a way to do this directly in the Shims device with some kind of ID path like "Status/Engine/Battery Voltage/value" string?

You just need to extend the topic string you’re matching on to get the specific value you’re targeting for that device.
generator/generator/Status/Engine/Battery Voltage
And
generator/generator/Status/Line/Utility Voltage
Yes, two triggers and two message types. But only one connector is needed.

Re: 2 Shims/ Same Data
Also, your second topic subscription is redundant since the first one is a wildcard.

Re: 2 Shims/ Same Data
There is a way to do it with only one trigger, but requires a lot more back end configuration and processing to pull out the separate values. In this case it’s not worth it.

Re: 2 Shims/ Same Data
So I was able to successfully get this to work with only 1 Connector.
As always thanks for your help, and I'm excited to think I'm beginning to come to some elementary understanding of how this work
LASTLY, is there an easy way to suppress the MQTT Trigger logging?
