Plugin lost both TV's IP addresses

Post by Different Computers »

Until about a week ago, this plugin was working fine with two TVs.

I'm seeing

Code: Select all

Roku Network Remote Error An error occurred executing the GET/PUT request (Device: 1351401255): 403
NoneType: None
which is no surprise because when I drilled down into the settings for the two TVs I have, both of them had nonsense addresses. They were neither MAC addresses nor IP addresses.

Also, when the plugin tried to discover devices, all it found was about seven different versions of... my Hue Hub!

I've tried restarting the plugin, and redefined the correct IP addresses for the existing devices, but I'm still seeing the error above.

Seems my TCL TV had gotten into a funky state and was no longer properly communicating with my network.

However, after a hard reboot of the tv and reconfiguring its wifi connection, the Roku plugin is still giving me

Code: Select all

Suggestions on how to resolve this? I've restarted the plugin to no effect.

My other TV is working properly.

A 403 error is a "Forbidden" error which means that the plugin's call to the device is being received and blocked.

This could be due to a number of things, but I'd start with authentication (username/password, http vs. https and stuff like that).

Looks like this was fundamentally a problem with the TV. The "network remotes" setting spontaneously changed to OFF instead of ENABLED. When I dug down and found then changed this, the Indigo plugin started communicating with it again.

Very odd, as this TV hadn't even had batteries in the remote for the past 3 months, so no way this setting could have been changed by fumble fingers. Had to have either been the TV's software glitching, or a TV software update reverting it.

I'm still wondering why the Roku plugin detects my Hue Hub as a Roku device, but that's much more a matter of surprise and curiosity than a need or a problem.

Same thing in my house with all my Roku TVs. I’m glad you figured it out. After going around the house changing all the settings to “Enabled”, I had to restart the plugin…. everything seems to be communicating fine again.
