Pibeacon itself should be well behaved.

Could you check the activity monitor for any big CPU consumer
Or you can use Indigoutilities to check plugins behavior.

What kind of cpu .. are you using?

I've just switched my indigo server from a struggling Mac mini to my new iMac so will see how that works. Might have been the under powered mini?
Will let you know if I still see same behaviour
