Using eBeacon on my iPhone, I can see three Tile, which is all the tiles that I have. (see enclosed screen from eBeacon). The three include the new slim Tile and newly replaced regular tile. However, only the old regular tile shows in piBeacon.

Why do I have Tile? Simple, wife wants them for her keys, wallet and purse...not fighting a battle lost before it even starts...for my stuff, I use xy.

tiles are not really iBeacon, but it works somehow. will need to add scanning for all BLE signals and then find how tile does it

the program used to detect the beacons on the RPI filters out some BLE signals, eg no printers, tv .. headset. to catch the Tiles, I would need to change that filer to also allow for the new Tiles.

Although not strictly a beacon, I found that the Fitbit Flex exercise tracker functioned quite well as a beacon, with a range comparable to that of the FinditXYs... but when the battery died in my 18 month old Flex, I decided to replace it with a new Charge... which like the IPhone, appears to create a new UUID every time it syncs

for $13 US work fine. They're a bit bigger than the FinditXYs, and I don't know how long the battery lasts since I've only had this one a week, but it has a screw off port on the back to easily replace the 2032 when it does die.

A nice feature of the (new) xy beacons:
the beep-button has its own mac number. So you have the (2) regular mac number devices and one that goes UP when you press the switch.
This can be used to eg switch on light .. it comes on in < 1 second and goes to "down" depending on your device setting. With "fast down" you can set it to 10 seconds. Then you could use it again.

all of my new ones (2) have the button mac number ending with 8 eg

the 07 and 04 behave identical i.e. go up and down together. so you could "ignore" one of them

new version will be posted tomorrow.. with some nice management features for the RPI .. and some minor bugs removed
next major version should have support raspberry shake as a sensor = earthquake sensor.. as soon as I get mine.

ps I just had to replace the batteries in my first version xy after > 7 months

the (again) new xy beacons v3 seem to work the same way as the xy-2 version: you get 3indigo-iBeacon devices with slightly different mac #(last digit) one of them is for the beep-button..
Together with "fast down" option in device edit this makes a nice on/off switch: eg if you come home the xy is recognized and if you them press the beep-button you can also trigger something else..

will post the new version later after some more testing

AND these setting for the iBeacon detection seem to work a little better (faster) and less skipped iBeacons(*):

You will have the UUIDs mapped to a name (in the notes column) that is easier to read.
You could also create the file manually in the "pibeacon/menu/ Map UUID to Name" .
In the device/state=UUID listing you will still have the original UUID
