So Many Logfile Errors after Deleting a Device

I deleted an Indigo device while it was among those published via HomeKitLink Siri. I think I made the plugin angry!

Any advice about getting the plugin back into its happy place ? Help greatly appreciated!

Update: I had five HomekitLink Siri bridges running.

I deleted the one that had publishing responsibility for the ghost device. Seems to be working fine now.

Hi

The first message is the plugin recognising that the device was deleted. That should then remove the issue about delete device being published.

Deleting the bridge - should also removed any issues related to device deletion.

Typically any device being deleted without plugin aware or running, or indeed some issue here then restarting the plugin will remove any registration issues like this.

Question remains whether this relates to deletion of device or whether is another issue.

I restarted the plugin several times. Restarted the Indigo server as well. Still getting these errors.

I also decided to try unliking orphaned devices and deleting residual state files. Restart HomeKit. Relaod plugin.

I'll keep an eye on it to see if it's any happier now.

I noticed that every HomekitLink-Siri bridge has a "Status" state. Mine all say "operation" as expected. Does this indicate a possibility to have some of these bridges non-operation while the remainder are still "operational" ? That might help with fault isolation.

I think if you have restarted the plugin - then won’t be related to anything to do with deletion of the device. If you have then deleted a bridge in Indigo - you will need to remove it from the Home App ideally as well. Not sure that would explain whatever you are seeing.

The bridge status - may be operation - but at the Home end may cause a significant error if the wrong information is published there. Typically a “Show all Options” selection and forcing a particularly device type or device state.

The question will be what else changed around the same time as the device deletion??

The Device Disable Indigo Communicaiton, bottom left on the Homekitlink bridge devices turns the individual bridge off. This should stop any errors from that particularly bridge, without needing to go nuclear and delete it.

Similarly there are the Menu items troubleshooting 1,2,3 - that log information - probably the device one (I think 3), rather than network ones would be useful here.

Thank you Glenn. I guessed that the problem might have been caused by leftovers in my Home app, so I deleted the reference to the bridge I had deleted in Indigo. Error messages disappeared. I was on my way back to this thread to add that detail which you had already inferred!

As long as I have your attention, I'd like to offer mad props and big thanks for this plugin. I m in the middle of writing my first plugin - much simpler than this HomeKit plugin I'm sure, by an order of magnitude at least - and have a better appreciation for the work that people like you put into these projects. I originally jumped on your plugin just to get voice command of my Indigo devices, but now I lean on it HEAVILY to let Indigo know about state changes on HomeKit devices that Indigo is not able to "see" otherwise. Smart lock status, security cameras doubling as motion detectors, temperature sensors crossing thresholds - your plugin lest me expose virtual devices ad action groups through which Indigo gets in on all that good info.

And another *discovery* ... sometimes restarting the Apple HomeKit Hub device (HomePod or Apple TV) clears up problems, perhaps by re-establishing fresh communication with the HomeKitLinkSiri device(s).
