Is MQTT Broker plugin broken in the new 2025.2?

I downloaded the new 2025.2 Indigo and the MQTT plugin failed to load properly. I clicked around and did a reload or two to see if I did something wrong (that's usually the case), but I didn't see anything. Would you take a look and see if that plugin needs an update? or Most likely, that I've messed something up. Thank you, as always, for your efforts.

Which plugin? There are three of them.

They all seem to start and run OK for me, but I haven't done a huge amount of testing. If they don't for you, I'm going to need debug logs.

Ah. I'm sorry for not being clear. This is the MQTT Broker. I included a screen shot showing the red dot along with the log entries as it was starting up. I also selected reload in debugger and included that screen shot. To be thorough, I re-downloaded it from the plugin store, which asked for it be downgraded. Same results.

That indicates something is broken in your Python install. pkg_resources is a standard Python library that should be installed by the Python installer.

Sadly, it looks like pkg_resources was deprecated in Python 3.13, and at least in some cases (we have multiple installs, some have it others don't) it was actually removed.

So, not a corrupt install but rather a deprecated library in Python 3.13.

The pkg_resources package is slated for removal as early as 2025-11-30. Refrain from using this package or pin to Setuptools<81.

Issue with Indigo 2025.2 (Python 3.13) fixed in MQTT Broker release 2026.0.1, on GitHub and plugin store.

Looks like I'm having also issues.
When subscribing to a specific topic on this broker, I get other topics as well.

I have for instance a python script that reads my water meter.
It subscribes to tele/esp-toonWater and until Indigo 2025.2 it received only messages from that topic.
Now it receives messages from other topics like zigbee2mqtt and homeassistant.

Looks like these messages are only received upon making the connection to the broker.

You have a script connecting directly to the Broker? Not using the Connector plugin?

I edited the title of this thread to reflect that this thread is about the MQTT Broker plugin. Not the MQTT Connector plugin.

Yes. I used to have a Mosquitto broker for all my MQTT stuff, but moved to this broker long time ago.
It works totaly fine outside of Indigo.
Except for this issue.

But the issue also happens with Indigo plugins that connect to this broker, like the hassbridge plugin.

Does your script reconnect and resubscribe on each run? Can you post the relevant parts of that script? Pretty much all I did for the most recent version was update to a new version of the amqtt library thats compatible with Python 3.13. It's possible the library is doing something unexpected.
