Some Help pretty please...

Post by marketability »

Hi
I disabled your Roon plugin a while back and today was just trying to bring it back to life.

Latest Roon / Latest Plugin / Indigo 2024.2

After issues that prevented the plugin starting, I deleted all Indigo items, deleted the plugin and reinstalled
I'm getting the following error - any advice gratefully received!!

Code: Select all

Started plugin "Roon 2022.0.0"
Error (client) timeout waiting for plugin response from com.autologplugin.indigoplugin.rooncontroller for request UiGetValues1
Error (client) timeout waiting for plugin response from com.autologplugin.indigoplugin.rooncontroller for request CallPluginFunc
Error (client) runConfigDialog() caught exception: NSInvalidArgumentException -- *** -[__NSPlaceholderDictionary initWithObjects:forKeys:count:]: attempt to insert nil object from objects[0]

Hi @marketability,

I have managed to reproduce the problem you have experienced by removing my copy of the Roon plugin from my development system, removing all the Roon related Indigo devices and deleting the plugin preferences

I happened to have an updated version of the plugin in development, which to be honest I haven't looked at in a while. The good news is that it started OK without the errors you experienced.

So, I have uploaded this as a pre-release version to Github. It is available here: Roon Controller - Version 2025.0.0

As a reminder, when you do a fresh install you will have to configure the plugin with the Roon Server details. These can be found by using the Roon App (on the Mac or iPhone) and going to the Settings and selecting the Displays tab to give you the Web Display URL and most importantly the port number (which can no longer be assumed as being 9300).

Once the Roon plugin has made contact with Roon (you may need to reload the plugin), you will need to authorise the plugin in the Roon App by going to the Extensions tab. This didn't appear straight away for me and I had to reload the plugin to get it to appear for authorisation.

Having done that every thing fired up OK and all the Roon zones and outputs appeared as Indigo devices, showing their playing state etc. So hopefully this will work for you.

Let me know how you get on. :)

Hi Jon - thanks for your help - much appreciated!!

I installed the plugin and eventually managed to get Roon to "see" the extension for approval - took a few Roon and plugin restarts (I had that issue before if I remember correctly). All worked OK eventually though - thanks

JFYI...By the way the plugin still struggles to stop elegantly and throws the following message

Code: Select all

Warning process (pid 9096) failed to quit after polite request -- forcing it to quit now
I turned on debug logging and although things seem to be working, I did notice the following

Code: Select all

Roon Error '74' in module 'plugin.py', method 'print_zone'
   Failing statement [line 1124]: 'zone_print = zone_print + f"\n Hard Limit Min: {self.globals[ROON][ZONES][zone_id][OUTPUTS][keyInt][VOLUME][VOLUME_HARD_LIMIT_MIN]}"'
Hopefully that is of use to you
Thanks again for your help!

Sorry - one more newbie question... should the plugin create variables in the defined variable folder? Mine doesn't appear to
Cheers - Peter
