Airfoil Volume Variable

I'm looking to move over from iTunes built in Airplay volume settings to the Airfoil plugin to manage 6 zones of audio via Airport Expresses on my redesigned control pages.

I've found everything in the plugin that I need to accomplish this except the ability to display the current level of each Airfoil device from 0 to 100.

I assumed the plugin would have created a variable each device with this information that I could poll and display.

Is there an easy way to poll the Airfoil devices volume automatically and populate a variable? A snippet of script, a point in the right direction, or should this be going into the feature request bucket?
