[ANSWERED]Can I use v 3.5.0 with Indgo 6 on G5 OS 10.5.8?

Hey everyone,

Quick question. I bought Indigo after falling in love with it a few days ago. Problem is I have TONS of old computers around, but they are all either PC desktops, or Mac laptops and I don't think it's a good idea to have Indigo running on a laptop 24/7? I remembered I have a PowerMac G5 kicking around, so booted it up and luckily it still has 10.5.8 on it and it let me install Indigo 6.0.20. I can't use the latest Airfoil as it needs 10.7 it says, but I actually had 3.5.0 installed on this Mac already surprisingly. It doesn't work though, doesn't detect the speakers, just says in the event log no speakers found. So I'm assuming it doesn't work with it, and this machine is just temporary until I get something else current to run this but thought I'd check as Airfoil is the only thing that doesn't work, iTunes etc all work as expected so if I could get it to work I may be good for awhile as is.

Don't have an answer to your actual question but wanted to mention that I used to run Indigo on a spare MacBook Pro without any problems at all. It ran 24/7 for months at a time. It actually has a slight advantage over my current solution (mac-mini) because momentary blips on the power line won't cause a shutdown/reboot.

I don't doubt that this plugin won't work with a version of Airfoil that old. You could, of course, write your own AppleScripts though.

I run a very old (first generation) MacBook Pro and it's fine. It's 9 years old, so I suspect it's not too long for this world, but I'll wait until it dies completely before I replace it. In fact, I replace my old TiBook with this one several years ago - so my past 2 automation servers have been laptops.

Thanks! Problem is my laptops kicking around are either 1-2 years old like my MacBook Air that I really should just sell, or they are old like my black MacBook which can only run 10.6 so no Airfoil 4 anyway. Not sure I want to keep an Air running as a server, prob rather sell it and get a mini or something. Thanks!
