Also fingscan.app gets relaunched by an action/schedule. Check if you have something like fingscan relaunch schedule. And disable it.

Hi Karl - quick question for you, I have a load of devices that are showing up as expired. Can I just delete them as I assume they are dead now and can be removed?

So I have find running and the fingscan plugin installed. I guess I'm not really sure where to go from here? I have a list of 18 ipDevice variables with MAC addresses, ip addresses, nicknames (all of which are xyz-iphone), etc...

I'd like to be able to check to see if my iPhone is present or not. And if it's present -I'm home, if it's not present I'm not home. In reading through these posts, it appears some people have created devices? How is that done? I don't have that option present - I'm running fingscan 3.2.1 if that makes any difference.

Go into configure and setup events. Just read the manual that came with the plugin.

There wasn't a manual when I downloaded it from the forum. This is my "configure" menu panel - all there is is a place to enter a password.

Ok you are using a 1 year old version. Search for fingscan and download. There you find the most recent version.

I hope this is the correct forum for this. The Indigo log is filled with what looks like fingspan looping trying to restart on it's own?

I checked and the referenced info.plist file does exist.
I disabled the plugin from the Plugins menu (the plugin moves to the Plugins (Disabled) folder) and now the log is filling with this every 10 seconds.

I restarted Indigo and enabled the plugin and the log fills with the above again. So I disabled it and its back to:

FINGSCAN finds an error it can not handle and tries to restart-the error message indicates: it can not update variable "ipDevsLastUpdate". Looks like the variable was deleted??

Could you check if the variable still exists.
When it restarts it should recreate & fix that variable anyway. There must be something else going on.

I didn't recall creating any variables for the plugin, but looking at the Variables List there is a variable named "ipDevsLastUpdate" in the IP device folder. I downloaded the plugin again but haven't installed it yet, so the variable must be from the previous install. I just have three triggers that work with the plugin; two detect presence and the other sends an email when a new device is connected (I added that from another post). The presence triggers worked flawlessly from when the plugin was released. There were 6 instances of fing in the Activity Monitor when the errors were being generated, and I deleted them all before restarting. The errors seem to have come from nowhere and if I didn't happen to be logged in the server and have the Event Log window open, I wouldn't have noticed this. Thanks for looking at this, it is one of the plugins that adds value to my setup.

Don't under stand the loop and cause...The error message comes from a failed update attempt:

It could come from a timeout waiting for indigo to answer ..
And it should fix itself once restarted...
Is there anything else wrong with your server? .. any other error messages?

I reinstalled the fingscan plugin and everything seems normal so far. Nothing particularly wrong with the server before or after, the usual Google Voice SMS plugin concurrent error which never seems to go away (documented in another forum), but never seems to hurt anything either. And a concurrent error with Plex HTPC plugin after restart which has since gone away.

I'm currently transitioning from FMiD to FING as my main presence detector. Strangely the iPhone goes down and comes back up mostly every few minutes. But sometimes it sleeps for 1.5 hours.

Anyone else seen this?

Do you have a iPhone 6 ? That behaves differently. You need to set the timeout parameters larger. At least that worked for me
