problem with Nest plugin.

First off I appreciate the person that wrote this plugin. I'm sure lots of effort was put into it.

I currently have 2 of the 2nd gen nests. I got one 1st and set it up on Indigo and it worked well. When I added the 2nd Nest everything setup good. Both Nests were added to the Device list and I added functionality to my iPad control pages. But I noticed that it is only controlling/working with one of the Nests. I can go to the device list and select Bedroom or Kitchen nest and it always controls and gets temperature from only one of them, in this case the bedroom. So if I increment the Kitchen set point it increments the bedroom Nest. If I increment the Bedroom nest it works correct and increments the bedroom Nest. So it only appears to be controlling one of them. I even deleted both and retried again and the one I set up last is the one that both control. I have the Nest web page displayed and i can see the results. The Bedroom was at 73 and the Kitchen was at 70 and both readings would read 73 (the bedroom temp). I tried reloading the Plugin and still the same thing.

The Nest web site works fine relative to controlling and reading the actual Nest thermostats. If I go to the device list in Indigo and go to to the Nest web site and if I change the Kitchen setting neither of the readings change but when I change the bedroom on the web site both Kitchen and Bedroom data change to he same values.

Any suggestions what to try? A'm I overlooking something?

Check to be sure the name used under the edit device settings is exactly the sane as the name on nest.com and that the location is the same.

I checked those and they are OK.

But I discovered a very interesting thing. I'll go over in detail what I did.

I have both Nest units listed in the device window of Indigo. One is the kitchen and the other is bedroom.
I disable both devices under the "comm enabled" column by unchecking the boxes.
I then enable (click box) the comm enable for the kitchen unit. Shows an "x"
The correct room temperature of the kitchen shows up in the state column of Indigo. I can also increase the setpoint and watch the kitchen setpoint change on the Nest web site. So it is working correctly.
I then uncheck the Kitchen "comm enable" box.
Then I check the "comm enable" for the bedroom device. Shows and "x".
The correct room temperature of the bedroom shows up in the state column of Indigo. I can also increase the setpoint and watch the bedroom setpoint change on the Nest web site. So it is working correctly.
So the address of both controls are right since it reads and controls the correct Nest device.


The next step is where the problem shows up. Currently the bedroom comm is enabled and displaying the proper temperature,
When I enable the kitchen comm , the kitchen reads proper in the state but one second later the bedroom state reads the same temperature as the kitchen. And at this point if I change the setpoint of either the bedroom or the kitchen on Indigo the kitchen is the one that gets changed on the Nest web site. So I can't get both to control the correct thermostat if both are "comm enabled " at the same time.But they work OK if one or the other is enabled.

I think you may be running an older version. Not sure if the version numbers changed or not but try downloading from that post. Also that entire thread has some useful info. Post of you can't find it .

Thank you very much. Appreciate your help greatly. That solved the problem.

I just installed this plugin a few days ago and enabled it, I'm surprised that it used an older version.

I read and tried what you said in adding new action device and did not notice any delay with both Nests enabled.
I'll keep and eye on it since I'll probably be adding more Nests.

I spoke too soon.

It is delaying a lot. I tried what you had asked and did not see a delay. But when I was adding an action and started to type it was bad. Sputtered intermittently. When I turned off the comm enable for the 2 nests it was fine.
I'm very concerned now since I was going to get a few more Nests....Hopefully someone looks into this,
