I was originally thinking of getting the new Unifi one, but this looks like it's probably more suitable. I'll check out the app too.

Just in case it’s of interest to anyone, the Thread Group have released a tools app on TestFlight. I don’t really have any threads devices so I have no way to advise if it’s particularly useful or not, but thought I’d link to it here just in case it helped someone else with an issue.

I am learning more about the way Matter and Thread work, together and independently.
The big news is that if you have a Thread Border Router, ie recent Apple TV or HomePod on your network, you can (in dom.io 2.5) add a factory fresh Matter Thread or WiFi device direct to Indigo whilst standing at the device in place, no need for going to Indigo at all and no having to use the Apple Home app to add it there first.

Power metering now fixed and tested on the Ikea Grillplats socket.
PIR sensitivity now able to be set on the Aqara FP300
Shelly devices tested working when Matter is enabled. Interesting is that they transmit over Matter and MQTT at the same time for testing. I have moved direct control to Matter to remove MQTT from critical path, but kept it for power monitoring which Shelly dont expose over Matter yet.

Simplification of the config so for normal setup with matter server running on your indigo server mac then it’s one option.
Advanced users can access a further menu to adjust parameters as necessary.

Wow.. another amazing integration capability, HomeBridge plugins can (not sure all do) expose their devices as Matter Devices. In the past I had some horrible way to mirror them into Indigo.. but now we can just commission those devices straight into Indigo.
They use test certificates so a new Matter plugin version is coming which gives you the option to enable test certs to be commissions, off by default.

And rounding out the Matter integration. Along with Home Bridge exposing its devices as Matter devices, Home Assistant does and also there is https://matterbridge.io/README.html.
The matter.js that Matterbridge uses is the same stack I use in my plugin, and what powers my test devices for development and testing.
It wouldnt be that hard to create an option to publish Indigo devices out as Matter devices for Apple Home, HA etc to pick up.
The protocol is the limiting factor here as not all devices and features are fully supported yet so dedicated plugins have greater feature, so I dont see it as a huge win today (and less so as we seem to be moving away from need to use HASS as we add more plugins here, and with dom.io replacing some of the Apple HomeKit app functionality) but I think its an interesting feature.

It’s been a busy week for Fable and me.
From what was a discovery of matterbridge and a question posed above on whether a Matter bridge was worth it to a live bridge in a week.
I decided to ask Fable to review what was needed and turns out it fitted nicely in with the controller architecture so I asked it to write a detailed architecture design and PRD and was going to leave it there, but whilst in bed sick last week I kicked it off “just to see.”
Fable is amazing, and in 10 dev waves that could run for hours with parallel sub agents all with no input from me it built a bridge (actually in first 4 waves, rest has been hardening , testing bug fixing etc. )
As an idea of what it took to build. It used 1 1/2 x the weekly allowance of Claude Max 5x plan (it used a week’s allowance in just 3 days on the initial build ).
That equates to 8.4m output tokens along with 2.4bn cached read tokens!
And now we have a matter bridge. It’s undergone a lot of AI review and has a huge test suite and I’ve tested with Apple Home and Alexa so treat as beta for now.

Wow. Ikea already has some amazing Matter devices and I’m adding more and more sockets and temperature sensors as so cheap but now they’ve announced a new TRV for €14.99.
It’s matter over thread and has the usual frost and limescale protection. No news on if it supports matter bridging for temperature sensors but if not it can still be updated form Indigo actions.
My Shelly gen 1 TRV batteries are slowly dying and not holding charge very long and was looking for a replacement and this makes the cost €120 not €640.
