Domio gets notifications, device history, live widgets and more

The williammoore account (me) is/was my oldest user account. When apple started using iCloud stuff for creating users.... my indigo setup got a little weird. By then, I already had a seperate indigo icloud account... whm.indigo. My last couple computers, I used that as the account to set up the computer then added william.moore as an admin user.

I've never even logged into that computer (except maybe once to set up the other account). I've done everything from the william.moore login. (including installing everything).

does that make a difference?
I could try to swap stuff over... but I can't even think of how many scripts or things will break because they look for items under the williammoore account

so even if I am admin.... admin doesn't have access? Should I change that? Add the admin group?

@durosity, hiding errors is never the right choice since failures become invisible and bugging issues becomes almost impossible. However, making errors more clear and useful to solve the issue is.

I didn't mean hiding errors as such, more the repetitive messages that appear when the app connects to Indigo to refresh its data.

You have something seriously wrong with permissions and accounts, I just can't really tell yet.

BTW, this has nothing to do with iCloud - it's all local macOS accounts and permissions. Well, I don't *think* so.

Here's the problem:

Something stomped on the permissions of that directory in /usr/local/

sudo chgrp -R admin /usr/local/indigo

That should fix the issue starting the Indigo command line tool. I don't know where we stopped with the rest of the testing.

Hey Simon, can you drop me an email with the details/example? We probably need to catch that exception with a better error.

This is something whmoorejr needs to run, it is a 500 error on his call.

With the 2nd part, it identified 4 problem variables. Nothing I use anymore. Leftover from an old plugin. (SMDPd Plugin). Deleted those 4 variables. Ran the 2nd part again. No bad things.

Notifications cleared up. (Sent myself a test notification successfully) No goofy 500 erros. And even the Shortcuts app can now be used to update a variable via dom.io

This has been pushed to Apple for release. Will be 2.3 and includes the Matter functionality, DSC alarm support, network improvements and improved ability to register a device for notifications if not done on startup.
I’ll pull this debugging an indigo issue out into another thread as was indigo not dom.io issue.

Next release will be expanding the number of devices it can control.

These four variables all had dependencies.... sorta. They were populated / controlled by the old SMTPd plugin. I stopped using that plugin a few years ago (Used it as a workaround to get instant motion notifications from cameras). Deleted out the plugin, forgot about the variables. That's the only difference between those 4 and the rest of the unused forgotten variables I still have.

Push Notifications

Now that it's working on mine, I really love how well it works and the ability to deep link into pages, devices etc without a bunch of extra clicking on stuff.

I have a couple requests to make it a true replacement for how I use pushover (general feature requests):
URL deep linking:

• blueiris://?camera=SHORTNAME Direct to a camera in the blueiris app
  https://tempestwx.com/station/STATION_ID/ External link to a local weather station
  ? Is there a url to go to the notifications history? Or maybe that should be the default deep link if one isn't set?

NOTE: Tried typing a paragraph long message to see how it looks. Only a few lines visible when the banner popped up, clicked (no deep link selected) went to the last domio screen I was on.

Scriptable:
Some of the pushover messages I send are beyond the scope of the plugin, so I use python scripts to handle those.

Banner Icon / Title options:
With pushover, I use multiple icons (different API Tokens) to quicky differentiate the notification category: Indigo (Catch All), Motion, Front Door, Climate, CDRA (My office), Emergency, GeoLocation (Any location based event), Security (Catch all for a security event that's not an emergency, Cyber (networking events). Yes, I could just make that the title, but it would be cool if the icon could change so even when your screen is locked, you could know right away.

Sound Options:
I don't really use this because my phone is on silent mostly... Some might find it usefull for differentiating between a update notification and an urgent notification.

Image / GIF Support?
I guess technically you could do this now with a control page that has a refreshing image.
Example: When my front door camera detects motion, Indigo pulls a static image of whatever created that motion event (human, dog, bicycle, etc). That image is saved twice: Once as CAMERA_NAME_Date:Time.jpg in a camera log folder, and once as "R.jpg". So the rotating image "R.jpg" is always my most current "threat". So if I want a notification associated with that camera, I include "Rotate.jpg" as part of the payload for the notification.

Alternatively, could you possibly deep link to an image on the indigo server (in the way a control page uses a refreshing image URL.... but without the control page)? Example from one of my control pages:
