Wow! After fiddling around for an hour yesterday I had my doubts this would be possible to achieve.

I’ll keep my eyes open for 1.15 and give it a whirl.

Thank you so much for the app and generating a change that I thought for all the world was impossible. Wife says “at least there are some smart people out there”. I’m not sure who the other people might be

Limit screen brightness to three decimal places off -> 0.001 -> 1.000
I've not yet had a chance to update to the latest version, looking forward to trying it out! Those new shortcut URLs will be very handy I think.

On a side note, I'm just curious, why did you choose to have the brightness level as 0.001 to 1.000 rather than just having it as between 1 and 100? No particular issue with it as such.. just in my little head as all the dimmers in indigo are 0-100 it'd be nice if they matched that. I'm trying to create a way to match a dimmer device to the brightness of the screen (so I can publish it to HomeKitLink Siri) but that was proving a little bit of a stumbling block.

Kiosk Home iOS App

Post by GlennNZ »

2.00 Releasing Soon.... (some 6700 lines of code later...)

Coming Soon...

Animated, Selectable, changeable backgrounds, includings animation of existing background images, full animated options, changing images and internet based solutions..

Image

(Pending more testing, additions at this rate, apple store issues... which are hard to predict...)

Brings:

Bug fixes for v1.15 Blackout Overlay (oops)
- Remove brightness observer - to much overhead, check every 60 seconds and update as needed.
- Avoid looping.
- Few other fixes from 1.15 bugs.

New:
Update overall animation handling, avoid overheads, speed up.
Speed up Sound, move to js Async for sounds/buttons

New Features:

New selectable button animations:
None – no animation
Press – quick nudge down
Rotate – 360° Y-axis rotation
Scale – enlarge to 130%
Fade – dim opacity to 50%
Bounce – small vertical hop
Pulse – grow then shrink
Shake – rapid horizontal jiggle
Glow – box-shadow glow flash
Flip – 360° X-axis flip
Jiggle – quick side-to-side wiggle
Wobble – exaggerated side-to-side swing
Ripple – expanding shadow pulse
Heartbeat – scale up then return
Flash – quick opacity flash
Swing – pendulum sway
Tilt – skew tilt and reset
Slide Left – shift left then back
Slide Right – shift right then back
Slide Up – shift up then back
Slide Down – shift down then back
Roll – rotate and slide
Spin Fast – quick full spin
Expand – pop to 150% then back
Contract – shrink to 80% then back
Skew – diagonal skew and reset
Border Pulse – border color pulse
Shadow Pop – drop-shadow pop
Color Shift – background color flash
Morph – morph into circle then back
Emboss – 3D pressed look over 0.6s
Pop3D – 3D released look over 0.6s

Add New Feature Selectable Animated Backgrounds:

This will animated the current background image (for each page) or the background color, or overlay a new animation, or replace entirely.
38 options, may have gone slightly overboard....

Rest assured this adds NO overhead if not running. If None selected nothing is changed for the App as this all runs on the device side, and is simply not sent.

Various options may slow down the device, some more intensive than others and depends on device running and how old it is. My newer devices run all without problem, the older <OS16 aged devices struggle with the more intensive ones.

Some will completely replace background image and/or background Colour. Most if possible with overlay on top of current background image.
Some allow colour options to be set for some foreground elements (for this presuming you have a image for background) the background colour setting is used for these elements.

Some options will use the background Color set in Indigo for the page for some selectable features.

Options: Selectable in Settings Screen

1  None – static background with no animation.
2  Background Zoom – slow, continuous zoom‑in and zoom‑out of the page backdrop.
3  Hue Rotate – full‑spectrum colour wheel cycle applied to the existing image.
4  Blur Pulse – rhythmic blur‑in / sharpen oscillation of the background.
5  Water Ripples – liquid‑like ripple shader radiating from random points.
6  Granim Sunset – horizontal gradient sweep through warm sunset tones.
7  Granim Ocean – animated gradient shifting through deep‑sea blues.
8  Granim Forest – animated gradient cycling forest greens and earth browns.
9  Ken Burns Scale/Move – very slow pan‑and‑zoom across the background image.
10  Ken Burns Colour – same pan‑and‑zoom with a subtle colour‑tint cycle.
11  Lens Flare Ellipse – single flare drifting along an elongated elliptical path.
12  Lens Flare Figure‑8 – flare tracing a continuous “∞” path across the screen.
13  Lens Flare Circle – flare orbiting in a perfect circle.
14  Lens Flare Zigzag – flare moving in a sharp zig‑zag trajectory.
15  Lens Flare Flower – flare tracing a multi‑petal rosette pattern.
16  Vanta Clouds – volumetric‑looking animated cloud field.
17  Vanta Clouds2 – denser, more turbulent cloud variant.
18  Vanta Birds – low‑poly birds flocking across a parallax sky.
19  Vanta Net – elastic triangular net reacting to mouse/touch.
20  Vanta Waves – undulating wire‑frame water surface.
21  Vanta Rings – concentric rings pulsing outward from centre.
22  Vanta Fog – drifting, semi‑transparent volumetric fog.
23  Vanta Globe – rotating low‑poly 3‑D globe with starfield.
24  Vanta Dots – particle dots connecting into a reactive mesh.
25  Vanta Trunk – growing fractal tree branches.
26  Vanta Cells – cell‑like mosaic tiles morphing and shifting.
27  Vanta Halo – radiant moving halo of light shards.
28  Vanta Topology – animated 3‑D height‑map grid.
29  Balls Animated – multicolour bouncing balls with gravity and collisions.
30  Floating Squares – translucent squares drifting upward at random speeds.
31  Aurora – smooth, ribbon‑like aurora borealis waves.
32  Aurora 2 – aurora whose palette is derived from page background colour.
33  Swirl – colourful particle streaks swirling around centre.
34  Swirl 2 – same swirl but seeded to match the page’s current background colour.
35  Granim Brighter – animated gradient that’s a brighter version of the existing background tone.
36  Granim Image – gradient overlay that transitions in sync with a background‑image fade animation.
37 Snow Fall - Light - background snow flakes that move and start to settle downwards
38 Snow Fall - Heav - background snow flakes that move and start to settle downwards

NB:
A number of these background animations require internet access for external library support
Not all mine you

New:
Add an addition variable ID setting: 'Background Update Variable'
Allows changing the actual background (png file in indigo), or changing the background animation from (1 None to any above)
Update this variable to update the Background Animation to the number selected.
eg. if raining - change to rain background, if alert status - update to red/orange screen.
Options of usage are endless.

Options
- Number 0,1 are None, 2 - 37 for selected Animation as per the Selector
- This variable additionally supports all current images in background folder - can change from one background to another pending alert/status
- This variable supports https:// http:// links, only updated on change (downloads the image)

A limited few Example Animations: (converting to gif is a pain - you will have to see in App)
In some of these the wood is my background image.

Works like a charm!! AND web page buttons have given me a lot of ideas on how to best activate - although the Home Screen Shortcut is hard to beat! Thinking about adding another home - just for the challenge (jk :-)

A shocking thing happened today.. the WIFE asked if it was possible to get a variable value to show on her iPhones Lock Screen. As it stands at the moment I can’t see any way of doing that.. but it got me wondering if that would be something that could be added to Kiosk Home?

Actions not posting to server?

Hi

I hope someone can maybe shed some light on an issue I am having with Kiosk Home. It used to work perfectly but no longer.

App is displaying perfectly, all links and everything looks good - but actions don't appear to be being sent. Web page to server works great - actions sent perfectly. When I press the button, the log shows no sign of an action arriving.

I am assuming it's a network or server security issue? It used to work great.....

Any thoughts on how to debug further?

- ANSWER - re-install the app. Communications restored....... OOPS

Hi,

I hope somebody can help me getting Kiosk Home working. I tried all the things mentioned in the forum and app description but every time I start the app on my iPhone or iPad I get "WebSocket Connected" and then Indigo reports in log: Web Server Warning access denied for request /v2/api/ws/variable-feed from 192.168.2.82
This will be repeated as long as Kiosk home is running.

I use Indigo 2023.1.1, no reflector (only use it locally)
My secrets file is like this:
[
"test",
"do-not-use-api-keys"
]

Indigo reports at startup in log: Web Server Warning API Key usage disabled via the secrets.json file, only secrets will validate API calls.
I think this would mean that the secrets file is read correctly.

I entered all settings in Kiosk Home. API Key: test

I even asked ChatGPT about this and it keeps insisting I should use a different secrets file entry: { "api_key": "test" }

Nothing has effect in connecting to Kiosk Home. I have no idea how to get it working.

I hope someone can help, thanks in advance,

With kind regards,

Marcel

Kiosk Home iOS App

Post by GlennNZ »

Hi

This is an issue with the api key working - which kiosk home uses rather than a kiosk issue as I’m sure you are aware. (Perhaps if no replies post elsewhere?)

See

https://wiki.indigodomo.com/doku.php?id ... web_server

Why would you have a key called dont use api keys ??? That would fit with messaging about being disabled.
Perhaps remove it in the first instance and it is possible test is simply to short.
Re-reading the documentation it seems to be allowed - despite not being recommended - although wonder whether it’s usage has changed.

I would Remove it
Put something else there, use that as api key in Kiosk hone
Take it directly from website details above for a test and move on from there

Can check with a web query to see if working as per documentation

There is a special local secret:

Code: Select all

[
    "here-is-a-key",
    "this*is*another*key",
    "do-not-use-api-keys"
]
If "do-not-use-api-keys" is included in the secrets file (processed at start up), then only local secrets will authenticate.

Thanks DaveL for replying.

Was going to ask you this. And have subsequently seen the docs

Has anything changed in handling of this aspect? Given the example here seems to stop all apikeys from working?

I will test when can

I don't know of anything that's changed around the use of the local secrets file or its role in authentication.

Right. That's the special secret's purpose. NOTE: it doesn't stop valid local secrets from working.

Hi Glenn, Dave,

Thanks for the reply and investigation so far.

As a test I have changed the secrets file and made a longer key of 17 characters and removed the 2nd line.
The result was that indigo does not report anything anymore about the secrets file at startup as I expected.
At first I forgot to remove the , after the first line and then Indigo reported that there was an error in the secrets file.
Removed the , and then tested on safari with the link as in the documentation and result was: Unauthorized Access
So it looks as if the secrets file is correct.

With kind regards, Marcel

I believe when you change the secrets file you need to restart the Indigo server for the changes to take effect (or use a restart plugin action and enter "com.indigodomo.webserver" as the plugin ID).
