2nd thermostat
2nd thermostat
I've added a second Ecobee (model, Smart Thermostat Enhanced), installed the plugin in MyApps. I'm stuck in Indigo - adding the thermostat does not permit adding a new one - in the Ecobee Device field, "select an item" is disabled.
The plug in version is 2025.0.1, and I have reloaded it. I'm using the Ecobee Account that I have had for several years for my existing thermostat. The website lists both devices. In My Apps on the website, both devices list "ecobee indigo plugin version 2".
What step have I missed?

Re: 2nd thermostat
You should not have needed to add (another) plugin on the Ecobee website. Delete the extra one.

Re: 2nd thermostat
Actually, I have 2 new thermostats, 3 total.
The issues I'm encountering are too bizarre to try to explain - starting with devices that are or are not available in the define and sync dropdown. Two years ago, I had a second ecobee device briefly that the HVAC folks couldn't make work. This might have been the beginning of scrambling the devices, labels, etc. for which I accept blame.
How do I clean up the mess? I'm reluctant to delete the three devices because doing so will take down action groups, schedules, triggers. Is there someway to untangle my mess besides removing the Indigo devices are starting over?

Re: 2nd thermostat
I deleted the existing thermostats, added 3 thermostats, and after replacing the schedule, triggers, action groups, everything is working. But - I discovered that deleting my home thermostats also disabled the thermostat in the mountains, where it was very cold. Ecobee was unable to control it, and the house was at 2C when I arrived yesterday, and was able to turn the heater on. Fortunately, there were no frozen pipes. Whew!
My new question is how do I add the vacation home thermostat device in Indigo? Do I need a separate Ecobee account for the second home? (My Ecobee account has both homes). I want to be very careful to avoid the mess I created earlier, and am hopeful you can advise me on how to proceed..
Thank you,
Bob

Re: 2nd thermostat
Were you not able to control the 2nd home thermostat using the Ecobee app or website?

Re: 2nd thermostat
With a new registration code from ecobee, I was anble to enable control with the app. The issue was that the code is delivered to the thermostat- there is no way to register it remotely.
The only remaining issue is adding it as an indigo device.

Re: 2nd thermostat
So all the thermostats, for both houses, show in the mobile app at the same time?
Is the thermostat at the second house the same model as (at least one of) your other ones? Or is it a new model that's possibly not supported by the plugin?
Go to the plugin menu and select "Write Thermostat data to Log". Do you get output for all four thermostats? Post the data to this thread.

Re: 2nd thermostat
All 4 thermostats are available on the mobile app - selecting from two houses first, (3 for one, 1 for the other). The thermostat in the second home is 6 years old, and was an Indigo device until I deleted the devices in the main home. Thermostat plug-in data attached. All four thermostats are included: Main home thermostat names are "Basement office", "Upstairs" and "Main floor"; the vacation home one is "Stairs". "2 mBath" must be a remote sensor - not active. When I try to add a device in the second home, the three options (all disabled) are the three main home thermostats; "Stairs" is not available.
Thank you for working on this for me.

Re: 2nd thermostat
Overnight, I have lost all Indigo connection with the server. I had no interaction with the website or Indigo - I did use the app to change the set point. Searching, I found a forum exchange from 2020 in which you advised deleting the devices and reinstalling the plug-in and obtaining a new activation code. Is that still the fix for this?
Checking on my home ecobees, edit>define and sync, each of the three thermostats lists two possibilities - the relevant one, and the one for the vacation home. I also noticed, belatedly, that I have two accounts - one for each house. This must be the root of my problem (although the token refresh issue sounds like something else?).
I'm proceeding with deleting the vacation home account and hoping to connect with the one for my other home.

Ecobee 2 Error G Ecobee AC (1691628447): Token refresh failed, will retry in 5 minutes.
Re: 2nd thermostat
Before I trust my intuition and make things worse, I'm assuming that I only should have one Ecobee account for both homes. If true, I'm wondering how I ended up with 2 Ecobee accounts in devices - one for each home. Should I have only one account for both homes? Should I delete the account in the vacation home? Assuming that I need only one account for both homes, how do I connect with the one from my main home and not repeat the error?
Or should I be taking an entirely different approach?

Re: 2nd thermostat
I think the reason your last Ecobee isn't showing up is because you still have an orphan Indigo device for that thermostat hanging around, but it's not in the folder you think it should be in. In the Indigo client, select the DEVICES top level location on the left, then sort by Protocol and see what "Ecobee 2" devices you find.

Re: 2nd thermostat
Orphan device - sorting by protocol, the main house has 3 thermostats, 3 occupancy, and one account. The vacation home has no ecobee devices. But if I select add a new ecobee device at my main home (which has the Ecobee account device), the vacation home thermostat is prompted. I assume this is coming from the Ecobee website where I have all 4 thermostats associated with one email address, and one app.
FWIW, It's my vague recollection that I had installed the Indigo app on the website twice, one for each home, and had two Ecobee accounts. Months ago (> 1 year?) I followed your recommendation to delete the second Indigo installation on the Ecobee website, and yesterday, I deleted the Indigo Ecobee account device at the vacation home. Assuming that this is the source of the difficulty, is there anything else I can do to clean up? e.g., delete and reinstall the plug-in? (I do not know how to do that).
Is it possible to access a single ecobee account device in Indigo for multiple homes?

Re: 2nd thermostat
I'm confused by your use of the term "multiple homes". Do you have separate Indigo instances (servers) at each home? That was never clear from your posts.

Yes - I have two servers.
