Pulling images/video from Home Assistant?

The inclusion of Home Assistant authentication in the app setup, plus a few mentions here make me wonder.

Maybe I'm missing where this is documented but is it possible to pull HASS video into a Kiosk Home page? And if so, how would I do it?

Hi

The Home Assistant API Key field was an attempt to authenticate with any Home Assistant iFrame pages. Unfortunately it was not consistent, often still requiring username/password. I somewhat left it to the side and to some extent should have deleted/hidden.

It is quite likely possible to do what you what currently with iFrames, and go to External URL substitution that occurs currently.

I have a variety of HASS devices that are "live" video devices and they can be displayed in HASS layouts. I'd like to be able to imbed any of them in a KioskHome page.

I'm not super familiar with iFrames but they don't appear to be iFrames when I look at page source. And if they ARE iFrames, I don't know how to recognize them nor know how to get them into KioskHome.

An iframe is a whole page showing within another page as a iframe. Any http url can be a iframe and displayed in a PIP - Picture in Picture type. A single page can have dozens of other pages or web images shown within it/

You need the url of the live video. Home assistant has limited in my understanding video support - it will all be through a html5 like url … http://..etc, or simply direct links to the video - be it camera etc. Exact details could aid here. Then this direct links is simply used. You can check you have the right onen by opening directly in safari - so may need to pass username/password authentication depending on what you are actually trying to link to.

Then in Indigo:
In control page editor - selected refreshing URL with Go to External URL as the action. In the external URL put the destination URL as above.
In the editor it will showing the refreshing URL target - but Kiosk Home will replace that.

Kiosk home will take the dimensions and scaling of the refreshing URL - and replace the internal contents with the external URL pointed to in the page setup.

When I inspect the element, I see

The above example uses the Camect integration for HASS.

You would be probably better off just going straight to the camera IP and url directly - and bypassing home assistant altogether. I Would google and check the camera and see what direct links to video are - with passing username password type authentication

If you can get playback in a safari window - . Use this and will get playback in Kiosk Home

Some of my cameras support that but others don't.

I use blueiris ui3 endpoints for all cameras and individual cameras and playback clips etc as needed

You might also ask why use a refreshing url control page device type at all? Particularly given that its contents are replaced with the go to external URL endpoint?

Well basically we needed an indigo control page editor way to scale, size and position multiple windows which become the iframes.

That is a Rstp stream not a webpage / web viewer

Needs to be a http page.

But cameras and viewers will have them
