Re: Support for additional platforms
Cool! I’ll let you know how it goes!
Outta interest, is there any particular reason why this is a separate app rather than the usual kind of app where it’s all bundled together in one release?

Version 1.2 is in the appleTV store.
Not sure what you mean when you say “usual kind of app”.
tvOS / AppleTv is a different store, different code and a completely different App. Not sure of any examples of iOS app and appleTV app being bundled. (different to watchos and ios which are usual extensions to each other for example)

Plex has everything as one release. Not that it matters, it was just pure curiosity as to why it was a different package!
Thanks for 1.2, I’ll check it out soon

Re: Support for additional platforms
Ok
They must use reuse code in both apps i would be guessing.
But given separate apps and stores - no requirement to - and figured would be quicker store review only releasing the tvOS version.
AppleTV store you can only access it would seem on appletv device. Unlike the other stores…

Ah fair! I mean it makes no difference to me, I was really just curious as to if there was a particular reason or something.
Thanks

Re: Support for additional platforms
So finally had a chance to look at this today, and it's looking great. Pages are loading exactly as I want to, and the scaling, even without a background image, is working exactly as I want it to. Also the screensaver is being suppressed as expected and the 'press play to..' message has gone too!GlennNZ wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 12:40 am Okay.
There is a new v1.2 coming
- Fixes no background image lack of support/Bug fix. (interestingly all my test backgrounds have images)
- Disable screen saver always (may add a setting). Haven’t tested this as remote for a bit - but code is there
- Harden Web Socket connection (this code is also shared with iOS code) so that will be in a later iOS Kiosk Home release.
All going to plan will be 12-24 hours away.
The only thing I'm still having issues with is the use of the variable to change the displayed page, no matter what I do it just doesn't work. I've tried deleting the variable and creating a new one, made absolutely sure I was using the correct number (tried pasting and typing it in directly), tried multiple different control page IDs in the variable itself, but it just seems to ignore it. No errors appear anywhere I can see.
I was also wondering, would it be possible to set the "Start Page ID" to look at a variable for its control page to use? It'd just make it cleaner to load directly to a particular page for certain actions I have planned, rather than triggering an action on the appleTV plugin to launch the App on the TV, then change the Page Trigger Variable ID to the desired page.

Re: Support for additional platforms
Hi
The variable changing displayed page is working on my testing - although will complete more extensive testing. Would force close the appleTV Kiosk Home app and start again.
There is a new version coming that adds a few more checks for Web Socket (but those were pretty minor)
Not changing ever? Versus not changing occasionally?
If not ever then odd - and would consider network aspects?
2.
Start up Control Page coming from Variable. Probably not possible as would mean needs working connection at startup (adding delays, and issues there when not) and we also don’t pull variables just look for change in variable

Re: Support for additional platforms
No, not changing at all. It did intermittently in prior versions. It’s doing this on the two Apple TVs I’ve tested it on. I’ve also tried removing the app and reinstalling from scratch, but no change.
I don’t think it’s network related, it’s pretty simple.. the indigo server is on the same VLAN, there’s no firewall rules that would interfere.. plus if that were the case surely there’d be other issues with rendering pages, etc?
Is there anywhere I can see a log that may help identify where it’s getting stuck? At present I can’t really identify if the issue is client side, server side, or somewhere in between.. even narrowing it down to just one of them would help.

I’ll have a look - it is possible I have broken something - even though the stimulator version was working fine.durosity wrote:No, not changing at all. It did intermittently in prior versions. Logs probably need Xcode connected to appletv to see - there is a reasonable amount of logging.
Edit:
Testing here - working instantly and 100% of the time….
Close, open App - reconnecting well and back to working.
CHECK
Have you remote Display unchecked for the variable???
If you uncheck this box in variable list then Indigo won’t update??
That I would be guessing is the issue???… PEBKAC …

Re: Support for additional platforms
The variable is definitely ticked.
Now, here's the weird thing.. after the update it's now working on the bedroom Apple TV, but still not on the lounge one. I've also deleted the whole app and re-installed it and set it up from scratch. I'm now second guessing myself about what was happening with the bedroom one, I thought it wasn't working there either but maybe it was, but alas no real way of checking that now.
Regardless, t's clearly an issue with the Lounge Apple TV.. I'm not sure what the next steps are, but tbh it's not as important on that one as it is on the other units (I've yet to test it on the one in my study as it's not even setup at the moment but I suspect it'll be fine as it's a brand new install). Thanks for your assistance, it's a brilliant app you've made here!

Are you getting the pop up messaging web socket connected?
