Schlage Encode Plugin Compatibility

Hi Glenn,
I hope that all is well. Are there any plans to integrate the Indigo Schlage Encode plugin to HomeKitLink Siri?

Hi! Bottom line is No. There are no plans.

But not quite sure I’m following the why.

It seems from a quick google:
You can add your locks via to your Home account via the current Schlage application I believe already? (obviously using cloud - but I believe the plugin does the same)

Alternatively:
You can add the Indigo plugin Schlage devices either directly (if we support control of locks?) or via a Masquerade device using a Relay turn off, turn off.

But the first option would likely be the simplest approach.

I want Indigo to manage the locks via Joe’s new Schlage Encode plugin. Which works great in Indigo. That way all of the Indigo automation works with the locks. But I use the Home app for my GUI.
I think that you are saying the I can have Indigo connect directly to the Schlage Encode locks, and also somehow connect the locks directly to the Home app without your HomekitLink Siri plugin.
I’ll try that.

Sorry for confusion!

Generally speaking this path of Device into Indigo via plugin, and then into Home via another plugin (HLKS) - is best replaced with Device into — Home app natively if supported.

It seems you can directly connect your locks to the Home app (without indigo). But this would depend on the setup of Schlage app accounts etc. Seem to setup Schlage App and import into Home.
it was a quick Google that I did….

If you want an Indigo centric only approach (and the only reason for this would to be avoid cloud - but think Schlage Plugin uses Cloud anyhow…) then would need to make the Locks compatible with HomeKitLink via Masquerade if not natively supported and then publish then via homekitlink into Home app. (HKLS show all options, allowing every option to be selected include a lot of ones that will break the bridge, so as per instructions step carefully…)

The locks in the Schlage plugin are relay devices, subtype Lock. So I would think the HKLS plugin would be able to control them. If not, let me know what I need to do to support it.

I’m traveling right now, so I can’t test it myself.

I did a little more playing around, and the locks work in HKLS if I set them uo as "doors" versus "locks" (locks being an unavailable option for Schlage Encode devices). So I think that part if OK. But on the Schlage Encode side the status is not updating timely when locked/unlocked. I'll start another thread under Schlage Encode for that one. Thanks guys!

Yes, when the plugin does it's scheduled refresh, when I lock/unlock a different door, or when I reload the plugin.

You should be able to force them to a Lock. You can force any device to be a lock, no difference to forcing them to be a door I wouldn’t think. (the issue with a Door is it is a sensor only device - so no control)

Steps:

Ideally create a new HLKS bridge for these devices (so if breaks other bridges keep working)
Remove the Schlage devices from whatever published bridge device you have already set.
Check have gone from Home App - give it a few minutes
Add to new Bridge as Lock (selected show all Options) device.
Save
Bridge restarts
Rest should be default.

Thanks Glenn. I've got it working as "Doors, not locks". The status is just slow to update due to a lock issue.
