New compatable panel: UNO IP

Received an email the other day from the Eyeson guys, they have developed a new panel that is compatible with the DSC PC18xx panels.

Sent this to them:

HI, just saw the Uno system, I have a DSC 1864 with 32 zones 16 HW & 16 RF I use a Plugin on my Indigo home automation server with a EVL4 : https://www.indigodomo.com/pluginstore/16/

Will the new system supply data via IP in the same format and my current DSC system?

This was their response:

Yes it will. The EVL4 is built onto the UNO panel and will supply data the same.

Handy dandy for anyone needing a new panel!

I saw this and thought it may be an interesting upgrade if it worked with the plugin, since my panel seems to be having a weird random lockup behaviour.. and frankly programming the damn thing is a PITA. Not in a place to do so now but hopefully in the future!

That’s disappointing.. I only use a couple of wired sensors but they’re kinda critical. Hopefully they’ll be able to fix this with a software update.

The installation manual seems to indicate they are supported. But, it is not totally clear.

Santa brought me one for Christmas, and I just got it fired up so I can play with it.
I have an expansion box that has been flaking out, one of my projects is to move it to this new unit so I can test it. At present the new board is attached to a wood back, with a spare keypad and a 4 position barrier strip to make connections to accessories.

While my DSC 832 is working fine, I have managed to loose the programming software. Configuring zones via the keypad is brutal - the UnoIP board seems nice to get to via the web - both via the vendor portal as well as direct web page on the panel itself. Eventually I plan on swapping this in for the DSC 832. I may actually get a second UnoIP board so I can keep my test board for playing.

Have you had a chance to test it with wireless devices yet? If so, I’d be very curious to hear which particular devices you found worked, or didn’t. Also, is the UNO compatible with the existing DSC plug-in?

Well, nobody reported back... AND I really needed to replace my old DSC panel. So, with fingers crossed I ordered a UNO panel.

TL:DR It works

What really happened...
I only replaced the basic panel. I kept my PC5108 zone expander, PC5132 RF interface and two 5500 keypads. I also kept the cabinet, power supply, and battery. It all works (now), but, there were/are a few issues.

• At first I could not see my expansion zones. The PC5108 had somehow been set to zones 17-24 when it should have been set to 9-16. I have no idea how it ever worked (it was installed when I purchased the home), but it did. Once I moved the jumpers to the correct settings for zones 9-16 I immediately saw the expansion zones.
• Fixing the PC5108 settings also enabled the panel to see the PC5132 (which wants zones 17-24)
• And that is where I hit the wall. I saw no indication that the UNO saw my wiresless (WS4945s) devices. Nothing I could do worked, so I finally asked for help from the UNO support team. It took a while to convince them it wasn't my fault and they actually installed some debugging software on my panel and discovered that my 5123 was "too old." Seems they cannot work with "really old" PC5132 interfaces. They could not define exactly which devices they did support, but version UA021 was clearly not on the list. All they could tell me was to get something newer. I found an old, but still new-in-box version UA521 on eBay, and that resolved the problems. Though, oddly, EyezOn claims my new PC5132 is "too new" and they are not familiar with it.
• Tip: save yourself some problems. The UNO will not report on WS4925 devices that are "tampered." So, I wasted some time figuring that out. It isn't documented anywhere.

At that point, I had the system up and working again.

Along the way I learned that almost none the DSC keypad programming sequences work with the UNO. In most cases, the same features are supported through the EyezOn configuration interface. But, there are a few it would be nice to have... like the RF commands.

And, finally, I have the old DSC plugin updated to work with the UNO. It still needs some exhaustive testing, but it does work.
