Clear cache does not seem to work in latest version

When I clear cache in the latest version (1.12) after restart the screen just goes white but the clear cache does not work or clear the toggle switch - it did work for me in previous versions.

Anyone else having this issue?

Hi

You probably need to force close the Kiosk Home App first.

I suspect it runs only on first 'loading' rather than the wakeup that occurs after exiting and reopening.

Does work if app force closed first and then reloaded on 1.12

I’m not sure how to force close on an IPAD - I can do it on a Mac but on the iPad I can only use the app switcher and throw it up. All I get is a white screen on restart and the clear cache toggle does not clear.

I even restarted the iPad and no luck. How do you force close an app on an IPAD?

This worked for me when I first tried it but that was a different version and weeks ago.

Yes, that is what I have been doing - but all I get is a white screen. If it is working for you it must be some local problem for me. All of my control pages are local (I don’t use the reflector.) Could that be the problem?

I have different IPADs using different versions of IPAD OS and they all do the same thing - white screen. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it is some local networking thing.

I not sure we are talking about the same thing.

What do you mean by white screen?
How does this relate to image cache?

Reflector isn’t recommended for Kiosk Home - it’s ideally supposed to be local.

I kill the app then I set the clear cache (image below). Restart the app and the screen just stays white (image below) forever.

Then I kill the app and go back to the setting and the clear cache is still set.

When I have done this in prior versions the setting was reset after the restart and the app loaded my page without issue.

Ok. Not quite sure how the clear caches comes into play here?
If you turn off the clear cache switch - does it work okay?
(if so interesting…. probably something to do with permissions/cache and OS versions.. and if the case will add to things to look at)

Pending this, I suspect the issue likely has nothing to do with the clear cache - more with the connection to the page. This is never completed, so clear cache remains set.

It is never connecting to the page you have set.
ipad connected to network/Wifi correct
IP address correct? Port correct?
API key correct?
Control Page ID correct?

Yes, as soon as I remove the clear cache switch the page loads normally. I think this may have something to do with me moving to a new machine but for the life of me I don't understand how it can work fine once I remove the clear cache toggle.

All the settings are the same with the only change being the IP address for the new indigo machine. It is acting like the clear cache setting is somehow not updating and it is still looking for the old machine IP and not finding it. I did not write the code so only guessing.

I would bet the next time I update to a new version it will fix itself, at least I hope it will - if not I guess I can remove the app completely and redownload it - reenter all the setting and try that on all my IPADS.

Interesting.

I’ll have a look - if it connects with new IP before you toggle the switch - the old one will be long gone.

Probably more differences in OS versions (but at very least can trap any possible errors). I’ll put in on the list…

Just FYI, some of my IPADS are running 17.7.6 (high as they can go). One was running 18.4 - they all do the same white screen until I remove the toggle, then they all work fine.

Updated the one IPAD running 18.4 to 18.4.1 and no change....

Try 1.14 in App Store now (Reviewed and released, just propagating...)

Refactor Cache clearing. Show on Splash Screen when running. Add backup timeout to 10 seconds if hangs (for unknown reason)

Move API calls to Websocket Update. (Currently have API Post as backup if websocket not connected.. likely will disable..)

Some refactoring of WebSocketManager/Connection/Drops/Reconnection/Background etc.

Speedup greatly sound playback with various Static and Control Images. Refactor sound playback and mp3 file playback. Only allow one sound at at time.
