Siri weirdness

I have a a couple of scenes defined in the Home App, and each one activates a specific action group published via HKLS. Works fine when manually activating the scene in the Home app.

Both scenes also work fine when I use Siri on my phone to activate them - "Hey Siri, <action group name>".

BUT - only one of the groups works when I I activate Siri using a HomePod. The other one fails with a "Sorry, Joe, something went wrong" response.

Any ideas?

Thats odd - and don’t we all love somewhat random issues?

Interesting that it works from other devices/Siri & Home App - rules out quite a lot, and interesting that other AG runs fine in all.

One of the annoyances of Home is that the various ways of interacting often send different command elements behind the scenes. e.g. Siri - sends dim value for lights only, Home app sends Off/On and a Dim value etc. If this was the issue I would expect a different issue though - “the something went wrong” tends to illustrate a lower level error, rather than a plugin level issue. (particularly without any logging)

Presuming these HomeKLS devices are all on the same Bridge/Same port etc?
If so:
I would check: (and really just spitballing here)
- The HomePod Settings - one potentially is the Personalise requests aspects settings as this has been reported to cause issues similar.
- The Home device that the Action Group is - you can modify the Display as characteristics within the App - Switch/Fan/Light etc. See if different to other - although really shouldn’t make any difference.
- Naming - if the device starts with a Room Name Home removes it when imported - if close to room name may potentially cause a similar issue.

Googling HomePod failing brings a few possible causes - all of which seem HomePod related. Does seem odd though is just the one Action Group….

Results this morning - first attempt at the problematic scene with personalized requests off - Siri told me that I had to turn personal requests on to complete the request. Then I turned voice recognition off totally, and the scene worked.

I know the second scene works for DW, I've seen her do it. I need to have her try the first when I'm there to see what happens.
