Hue Lights Plugin Setup and mobile app

Is it a requirement to use the Philips Hue mobile app for pairing and setup of each bulb/sensor/etc prior to using this plugin? Or is it recommended to do all setup via the Indigo plugin?

The plugin can only do things after the lights / sensors are setup in the hue or equivalent app on the phone

But after a light is setup the plugin will see the new light and will add an indigo device linked to that light
the indigo name is then
Hue_bridge#_light#_nameon huebridge

After that you can set the light from indigo.
