Hi.

Right now I’m using fing to track when my phone goes online and offline to track if I’m home. I was using pibeacon with a beacon tag on my car keys before. Either of these I haven’t gotten to work perfectly. Is the method everyone here is using to track when you come and go to use pibeacon with beacon tags and monitor closest rpi. Or are you doing a slightly different method.

Try the home away plugin.

It enables changes to home /away only when you open a door

Also my ibeacons are as close to 100 % as I can measure. - I am testing to many things

Possible that it does not work for you : too far away from the rpi(s).So that the iBeacon signals do not recognized. — add some more rpi

Thanks. So with home away plugin perhaps I could tie being away to something else so that as soon as the rpi cathches me it knows I am home regardless of the signal strength.
Where do you do that in home away.

Install the plugin

Define the devices you like to use(a)
Define a “door” device (d)
Create an action use the devices(a) and if you like use device (d) to set a gate. Add timings eg how long before and after door opens closes to accept devices(a) to create home away events.
