Alexa-Hue Bridge Plugin (old locked topic)

. For anyone out there that has a Hue and an Echo - can you reset your device list in the Alexa app then rediscover your Hue devices?

Can you describe what you mean by "reset"? Didn't see an option to reset device list in the Alexa App.

Of note, opening the Alexa app's Settings jumped into a setup page for WiFi (which had already been setup but might have been affected by the update?), so I "reset that" then had Alexa discover devices following the instructions on the Github page for this plugin, but Alexa did not find the Indigo Plugin devices.

Instead of resetting the list completely, I added a device to it, is not discovering the changes in the list or maybe not even communicating with indigo at all.

It's the "Forget Devices" (or some such) at the bottom of the device list in the Alexa app. And I'm looking for someone with an actual Hue Hub and Hue bulbs that can try to get the Echo to find the Hue lights - completely outside of the plugin.

I haven't had time to reset, "forget" devices or perform Discovery again. But FWIW I have an actual Hue Hub and three Hue lamps. In Alexa App>Settings>Devices, all my Indigo devices are greyed out but the three Hue lamps remained enabled and Echo is turning these Hue lamps on and off normally by voice command, no prob.

Yes, making a little progress. It does appear to be a bug in the plugin that an update to the Echo has exposed. Working on it...

I'm in the same boat

Alexa started telling me "that command doesn't work on that device" on all of my lights/etc. last night. I reamed her out every time, but she just ignored me.

I should have a fix released later today. Discovered another bug and I'm investigating the shared UPNP response port that should help with the port conflicts.

I've posted v1.0.2 which I believe solves the problem. It may also help with the UPNP port conflict by opening the port shared. Other apps/plugins that also open it in this manner can share the port. It may not solve all issues, but it should help. I've also made the discovery process start at plugin start and it runs indefinitely. If you have a conflict, you can stop/start it using the same menu items that have been there all along.

Be sure to rediscover your devices once you have the plugin installed. You may not have to use the Alexa app to forget them, I suspect just discovering again will get them working.

I installed the new version an then tried to control the devices. No go, they still showed as offline. I then had it forget the devices and discover the devices again and everything is back up!!! Thanks a bunch for fixing this.

Working great! BTW, I did the "forget devices" by using the Alexa app on iPhone>Settings>Connected Home and at that point I saw a long list of my 15 devices. So I deleted each one individually, confirming the deletion each time. Only after the list was done did I see a command at the bottom, "Forget all devices and groups." Just to be clear: if the need comes up again to forget and re-discover devices, the easier way to do this is within Indigo>Plug-ins>Alexa-Hue Bridge>Manage Devices>Delete, right?

No - that will tell the plugin to forget about mapping the device to the Echo, which is not what you want. The easiest way is to use the Alexa app and scroll down to the bottom of the device list and do a "Forget all devices and groups". You can then rediscover to reset the list on the Echo or other Alexa device.
