Not really - the biggest barrier (though by no means the only one) is the Mac Client which can't be ported to another platform because it uses Mac OS X SDKs for all of the UI. We'd have to build a completely new configuration client using some other technology, and that's not a trivial task.

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I think that techs that don't have existing 3rd party plugins should be given more weight in this than ones that do.

Well, let me say: None of the suggested. I would like to be able to backup and restore the sticks network before anything else.

I think is is an essential function which has to be adressed.

+1 from me for the z-stick back-up/restore.
I have 9 Fibaro RGBW for indirect light in the ceiling (height: 3.7 m), more than 20 Aeotec Smart switches (behind a wall switch), 6 Motion detectors (at 3 m height)...
If the Z-sticks fails, it would be a nightmare to reconfigure everything from the scratch.

Hmmm, what can we communicate? Well, first, thanks to everyone to take the time to reply. We'll use that feedback, along with all the rest that we get (pretty constantly) to determine what's going into upcoming releases.

Our policy is to not discuss what's going into future releases until such time that we're comfortable communicating that information. But, nice try!

With the issues that were pointed out in the Blog regarding the echo integration and the Skill API problems, I was wondering if an approach similar to the way the HA_Bridge works with the Vera system might work? In that method the built in Home Connect talks to the HA Bridge Java application which is running on your internal network. You create the devices you would like to control through a web interface in the Ha bridge Java app. It imports your devices and scenes from the Vera. I think this uses the Lighting API which I believe is pretty thin at the moment. I'm guessing it really offers you ON and OFF methods but I'm also guessing it will be enhanced with more features as time goes on.

No, I'm not volunteering to write this external interface app. I've been out of the programming scene far to long. I was just curious if the concept was even an option.

I suppose that's an option for the current 3rd party solution. However, like all reverse-engineered solutions, it's not one that we (Indigo Domotics) would support directly since it's a somewhat fragile implementation - meaning that Amazon could change the way things work and it would break and our users would be stuck until someone figured out how to fix it (if it would even be possible). We don't feel that it's in the best interest of our users to supply a solution that could break at any moment and run the risk that we can't fix it.

We have a hard enough time keeping up with Apple's OS releases every year breaking things...
