I hope people are still reading this thread.

I've notice an issue with my Hue Lights Plugin... it happens from time to time.

My Event log will fill with the following messages:

Hue Lights Failed to connect to the Hue hub at 192.168.1.XXX. - Check that the hub is connected and turned on.
Hue Lights Failed to connect to the Hue hub at 192.168.1.XXX. - Check that the hub is connected and turned on.
Hue Lights Failed to connect to the Hue hub at 192.168.1.XXX. - Check that the hub is connected and turned on.
Hue Lights Failed to connect to the Hue hub at 192.168.1.XXX. - Check that the hub is connected and turned on.

I've yet to have them not respond when a command is issued, but the errors make me question what is happening.
Network is all wired.

Hi Jon.

The only time I've seen that error in the log is when I'm having network issues and my Indigo server is unable to connect to the Hue hub for some reason. The Hue Lights plugin attempts to check the Hue lights status every 8 seconds, so if your Indigo server doesn't have continuous network access to the Hue hub for more than 8 seconds, you'll see that error. If communication becomes unreliable, you'll probably want to start troubleshooting the network connections involved. That can become complicated fairly quickly, but I'd start by using the Hue app on an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to make sure you can communicate with the Hue hub. If that works, then there might be an intermittent network issue between your Indigo server and the router, or between the router and the Hue hub.

Note also that, in order to work properly, the Hue Lights plugin requires that your Hue hub always have the same IP address. You might need to set your router to always give your Hue hub the same IP address every time it asks for one.

Added a Hue Bulb Attribute Controller virtual dimmer device which can be created to control a specific attribute (hue, saturation, RGB levels, or color temperature) of an existing Hue Bulb device.
Added an "Effect" action which allows you to specify an effect to be turned on for a Hue bulb (requires latest firmware on the Hue hub. Currently, only the Color Loop effect is supported by the Hue hub and bulbs).
Changed light control methods so that if the current light brightness is below 6% and the requested action is to turn off the bulb, set the ramp rate to 0 regardless of the default or specified ramp rate (transition time) because going from a brightness of 6% or lower to an off state with a dimming rate isn't noticeable.

I today received my 3 new Living Whites bulbs. I had 2 already, bought in a 2pack with remote. These 3 are the singles sold separately.
I succesfully installed them with my bridge, so with 3 HUE bulbs and 5 Living Whites.
But these 3 seems to me new models :

Hue Lights Error The "HUE 6 Entree" device has an unrecognized model ID of "LWB003". Hue Lights plugin does not support this device.

And I have too a lot of errors with the 0.10 version :

Hi

Thanks for the report. Could you enable debug logging in the Hue Lights plugin configuration and reload the plugin? Then paste the log into your reply like you did above so I can try to find out what's causing that error. (You can turn off debug logging after pasting the log into your reply).

Was reading the release notes and saw the following in one of the versions (I believe it was version 0.9.11) and saw this:

"non-Hue devices attached to the Hue hub"

and now I'm wondering what kind of non-Hue devices can attach to the Hue hub?

According to this EveryHue.com post, it seems that the Hue hub can also control Philips LivingColors and LivingWhites lights, though it may take a few more steps to get the Hue hub to link to them than with the Hue bulbs (see this EveryHue.com thread).

Because I don't have any LivingColors or LivingWhites to test out with the Hue Lights plugin, I can't support those models.

Hmm. That's less interesting than I was hoping

I was hoping maybe they had made a coffee maker or a TV that could connect to the Hue... Oh well ...

I've posted an updated Hue Lights plugin version that will hopefully fix the errors you're seeing.

The "'ascii' codec can't encode character..." error is likely the result of some code optimization I did between 0.9.11 and 0.10.0. That error should not have appeared with the latest Indigo 5.x and Indigo 6.x versions, but if you're running an old version of Indigo 5 (prior to 5.1.7) or Indigo 6 (prior to 6.0 beta 2), that error would appear. I've added some error checking code which should hopefully fix this.

As for the error "device has an unrecognized model ID of 'LWB003'..." error, that is indeed an unrecognized model ID. You're right, it must be a new one. I've added that model ID to the Hue Lights plugin's list of recognized models, so it should no longer report that it is unrecognized. However, since I don't have any LivingWhites to test any of this, I can't say for sure if it'll work correctly.

Adding that model ID to the recognized model list should also eliminate the "<type 'exceptions.KeyError'>: 'sat'" error. I've updated the plugin code, however, so that even if there is an unrecognized model ID, it shouldn't report that KeyError. Give the 0.10.1 plugin version a try and let me know how it goes.

Also in the meantime I have another problem (since begining but I have 6.0.0 b7), when I put a ramp rate value for any lamp, HUE of Whites, it works only for 60 seconds or less. If I put more it make the correct dimming during the first 60s (for example from 100% to 50% if I put ramp rate to 120), but then it turns off suddenly.

I'm using 6.0.0 b7 so I was after b2, and had the problem with ASCII...
1, 2, 3 are HUE, others are Living White, 4 & 5 with probably the model 001 and the 6, 7 & 8 with the new device model 003.
