Can I use this plugin (Homekitlink Siri) instead of the Ecobee plugin?

I just got several Ecobee Thermostats and I have them working via the Ecobee plugin. They work ok except you have to wait up to 3 minutes to get any change that would be made via Homekit or directly on the thermostat. Since Homekit updates very quick to changes made on the thermostat I would like to use this plugin. Will this accomplish what I'm looking to do? Will I then be able to control the thermostat and get updates from the thermostat quicker, especially when the furnace turns on instead of waiting up to 3 minutes?

Nope.

This plugin (HomekitLink) is for getting your indigo devices Z-wave, insteon etc. into the Apple Home app. (and to a lesser extent Indigo plugin devices into the Home app for reporting and control)

You seem to be talking about the reverse - getting information from Home app out to indigo. That is not what this plugin does. Getting specific device data like this is not possible, as Home App is a security key exchange system that doesn’t share its data.

I not sure the details of the Ecobee plugin - but maybe there are setup options there you are missing?

AFAIK there's no native Indigo way of getting HomeKit devices into Indigo (I'm hoping some boffin will make a plugin for this some day!) but you could potentially setup a basic Home Assistant install, pair the devices with that, then use the Home Assistant Integration plugin to pull those devices across (assuming it supports Thermostats).

The Ecobee api is cloud based and cannot push updates directly to Indigo. So there will always be a delay for changes. You can decrease the polling interval but then you risk the account getting locked out for an excessive queries.
