Light Sensor

I see there is a "Light Sensor" option for the HomeKit Type in the device adding-process. I am curios as to what data is expected for a device like this. I would like to have a luminance sensor (probably on a breadboard with a micro controller sending data over MQTT) bring in the darkness of a room and be able to turn lights on or off automagically.

Thanks for the great plugin!!

Re: Light Sensor

There is, and I use it to show the luminance as reported by my Aeotec motion sensors. Mainly just a simple way to check brightness for debugging triggers rather than using the Touch app. Why would you build a trigger using the Homekit logic, and not Indigo which is likely to be more reliable?

Re: Light Sensor

I was planning on using the brightness value to turn on specific lights when I come home. I would like the lights to only come on when I come home it is dark inside. I had HomeKit automating this with an after sunset constraint since it has the native "When I come Home" stuff. The after sunset works fine, but it was cloudy today around 2pm and it was pretty dark when I walked inside. I will probably end up making a virtual device that HomeKit triggers so that I can see my location status within Indigo.

Re: Light Sensor

I have a virtual switch for myself and my Mom who lives with me. I use HomeKit Arrive and Leave to turn them on and off. I use them as triggers to run complex automations in Indigo. That give me the high quality geofencing of HomeKit and the reliability of Indigo Triggers.
