Home Remote 2.8 has been submitted to Apple for iOS, watchOS and tvOS. the Mac version is also receiving an update.

New Features:
• Geofencing - Trigger actions to happen at any location!
• Notification options now work for beacons and locations - great for Apple Watch owners.
• If you have all 4 milight groups selected then they will be controlled as one, rather than 4 separate groups
• Home Remote: Remote now works from Apple Watch notifications for geofence and beacons

Here are a couple of screen shots of the new features:

The app now has a new icon as Apple said I had to change it due to a similarity with one of theirs.

I will post here when it is released.

I have found a bug (Sod's law after the email goes out) that stops Home Remote: Remote functionality from working.

A fix has been submitted to Apple and an expedited review requested.

Sorry for this trouble. I can provide a test flight build that fixes this issue to anyone that requires it.

Accessibility in iOS app for blind people

Post by jmortizsilva »

Hey there,

First of all I apologize if this is not the right thread to write this message.

I am a blind person and I use my iPhone using VoiceOver, which is the screen reader developed by Apple.

There are some problems of accessibility in the latest update of the application. I can add actions of Indigo, but I'm not able to execute and it is not possible to access the section of information that appears for each action, or the rest of options.

Could you fix this iswes for future updates?

I remain at your disposal for any clarification.

Sorry for my English, it is not too good.

Thank you

Hi,

Apologies for this. Accessibility is something I really want to improve in this app as I feel it could genuinely be of use. I will put together a small proposal and run it past you tomorrow if that's ok to see how I can improve accessibility.

Thanks

Great job on this app! So far I'm only using it for Geofencing, and It's the only app that I've found that has been easy to set up and (so far) perfectly reliable. I've spent several months trying other methods with limited success, and I got this working perfectly within an hour. Direct integration with Indigo makes the difference.

Just one caution about Geofencing for new users: As is mentioned on another thread, leave the "Notifications" option off, because it silently asks for permission to complete the action each time it is triggered.

Does this app use it's own geofencing for triggers, or does it rely on the devices location determined by some other geofencing method and reported to Indigo? IOW, could it be used as the only geofencing app with Indigo. I'm having difficulty finding a reliable solution to determine presence.
TIA

It will base a geofence around a location you set from a map with a radius defined by you.

Thank you for this. I missed seeing it anywhere else and it was driving me nuts! I really like this app.

No worries. Glad you are enjoying it. In the next update I will explain notification option as well as have documentation.

If you are enjoying the app, then please leave a review as it goes a long way to help sales.
