[ANSWERED]: Maximum # of iPads/iPhones on Indigo Touch

If this question has been asked before please point me to the link. I could not locate the answer by searching.

Can you have 12 iPad minis and 4 iPhone simultaneously accessing a single instance of the Indigo server?

Planning on having an iPad per room probably not all sending requests at the same time. All will have some control page on them though. Some will have refreshing URL fields.

All devices will be on the same /22 subnet.

I have several connected and I don't believe there is a licenses limit. But mat and jay should answer that one. From a performance point of view if you don't show too many camera videos you should be fine. That is more a wifi limit

There is no limit from a license perspective. We haven't heard of any performance problems either, but have not done any extensive testing to see at which point on a typical Mac it will bog down. As Karl mentioned, having lots of refreshing images on Control Pages will probably be the bottleneck.

btw, I have pretty good control over bandwidth from the cameras at the network level (queues with bandwidth limits) so the Mac serving the control pages never sees the full traffic from the cameras.

The issue is that all refreshing images go through Indigo and the Mac, even if the address of the image is not on the Mac itself. The client doesn't pull the image straight from the camera, so if all the control pages were to be showing a refreshing image (even different ones) at a fast rate, the Mac is having to serve up, say, 12 images per second or two. Personally I would think fairly modern Macs should be able to handle 10-12 reasonable clients, but that is just a guess.
