Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

I had some trouble getting my key fob to join my z-wave network, but after a new battery, I was about to join and synce it. I set the buttons to scene control (which is reflected in the sync data). But I get no response in the event log to any key press or hold. I have included the sync log and device dump.

Hi Scott,

I'm not sure what is wrong. Your Event Log and configuration settings look correct. Some things to try:

1) Exclude the module from the Z-Stick, then re-include it (then re-Define/Sync it in Indigo).
2) Toggle the Enable scene mode for all buttons checkbox OFF, save the settings (while keeping the keyfob awake), then repeat but re-enable the checkbox.
3) Turn on debug logging for Z-Wave via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Configure... menu item, then try pressing the buttons. Is nothing still logged?

Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

I just synced my Key Fob to indigo and the event log shows that button signals are coming in. So far so good. There is just no button to configure. How and/or where can I configure the buttons?

Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

Mine is not a recent version DSA22 but this worked for me:

In the 'Type' dropdown select 'Z-Wave Event' instead of 'Device State Changed'
Then select 'Z-Wave Command' underneath
In the pop-up window choose your device and then the relevant triggers will be available in the 'Received' field.

Hope that helps

Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

Hi Matt & Jay,

I just got a DSA22 (Gen5), all synced and I have the correct responses in the event log when I press a button. The issue I have is that I don't get the individual buttons as options under the trigger (Z-Wave Event-> Z-Wave Command). A you can see below I only get the battery level and any command

Ive re-defined & synced many times with no luck.

Below is one of the key presses and a define & sync in the log

Hi Pete,

Your key fob has a new model ID Indigo does not yet recognize. We'll get it added to the next bug-fix release of Indigo 6.1 for you.

Sorry.
I just had to exit setup mode on the key fob. It is working perfect now.

Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

Is anyone else getting terrible battery life on these key fobs? I've got 5 units and I'm lucky to get a month out of fresh batteries.

I've got a mix of both 1 button / 4 button / Gen 5 and the older model.

I've got a 1 button DSA38 and also a 4 button DSA22, not Gen 5 though.
I tweaked the wakeup interval to once a week and I'm getting over six months out of mine.

It will depend on usage, I guess I use both units up to 4 times a day.
The battery level doesn't mean much on these, they seem to give a stable voltage throughout most of their life but can then die quite suddenly.
Keep a couple of spares!

I prefer the Minimote now as its rechargeable :)

Hope that helps...
Colin

Re: Aeon Labs Key Fob Remote (DSA22)

I have the ZW088, which is the Gen5 model if I'm not mistaken.
Battery life for me is also more or less a month. I haven't tried to set the wake interval to a week, I should try that, but for the moment I am using the Octan remote.

The Octan is nice, but I don't really like the tactile feel of the buttons... that means, there is no clicky button action at all.
Other than that, it seems the batteries are holding up better than the Aeon keyfob.
