Re: Find My iDevices! (April 2013+)

Maybe Apple changed something again. I am getting the following.

Find My IDevices Error Unable to reach update server.

Is no one else having this problem? It seems that Apple changed their login and even the device list doesn't show up in the drop down.

Yes I do have the same problem here, I tried almost everything but i gave up on it. Trouble is that a lot of triggers are not working anymore now cause they where depending on states of the location of my telephone. So I was wondering if there is another tracking solution. (smartphone radar is not working ok because it seems that when I leave my telephone untouched for more then one hour it status already changes to away and I have to physically connect it to the internet again by checking mail or so)

I think it indeed has to do with the login of Apple cause the problem a cured suddenly. When I deleted FMID and reinstalled it already said "unable to connect to update server" Also when I create a device it only says "none" even when I leave the popup, pres save, etc..

I am going to try converting over to GeoHopper. It's unfortunate that Apple is making a really wonderful plugin useless.

I have dozens of triggers (temp, alarm, door locks, lighting) that depend on this. Thanks a lot Apple! I love you, but geesh, you really stuck it to me on this one. :(

In fairness I would rather have the security that Apple now offers with iCloud than some unsupported, reverse engineered plugin.

I'm having the same problem as Jpaction, but I was attempting to install the plugin for the first time. I thought I was doing it wrong, but after reading this thread, I realized I'm not crazy or incompetent. :D

...still crying.... my houses no longer adjust to me being on my way, gone away. I had over 20 scripts and triggers that used this. Such a great plugin.

Had same issue....

But replaced with phone app Geofency (note spelling) on IOS and indigo Beecon plugin.

Working really well - no noticeable battery drain and added bonus of iBeecon support

Can you expand on this solution?

Sure - not to much to expand on.

But run Geofency iOS app
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/geofency-time-tracking-automatic/id615538630?mt=8
on iphone or equivalent - set up Geofences (seemingly based on GPS but also Wifi connection and other aspects)
As noted have not found a noticeable battery drain.

Beecon plugin - http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?p=79507&t=11935
as per that forum - creating devices for each location.

Geofency - change the webhook settings to point to indigo/Beecon plugin IP and Port.

Everytime you exit or enter a location a notification can be sent to indigo.
