Suggested Improvements

<b>Kudos</b> to macpro for an excellent piece of software. 8)

Really helped save my bacon when a kernel panic corrupted my database.
I was able to save a report on the database as a *.pdf and used this to recreate a new database.

Having said that, here are a few things I noticed about version 1.0* that might need tweaking at some point: {* apologies if already fixed in 1.01}
- Device descriptions not output in the report
- For a Time/Date Action that executes an external applescript, and also has text in the "Speak" field, the report gives me the impression that I'm just executing a applescript "speak foo", but I'm not. In this case no external applescript reference (or indication of one) is given.
Contrast with the next point:-
- For Time/Date Actions & Action Groups:
o name of the referenced external applescript is not output, instead a message "This report is unable to retrieve the filename"
If you really cant get the filename, how about adding another page "Errors/Warnings", and reproduce them all there again!

To be clear, the above comments apply to the report on my re-created database, so issues are not because of database "corruption"

Thanks again for great software!

1.0.1 only fixes the intel issue.

The link to the external AppleScript is in a format that is impossible for me to decode. That's why you should always see the "unable to retrieve" message whenever external AppleScript is used.
I'll take a look at the issues you've mentioned above, so I can determine what needs to be fixed.

Ok. That helps when searching for the issues above.

I've released Indigo Database Report 1.1 today, which contains bugfixes for the two problems that KrazyKiwi reported.

Indigo Database Report is not compatible with Indigo 2.0 beta at this moment. New info will not be shown and some old info, like embedded AppleScript code, will be missing.
I'm working on support for all the new features Matt added, but I have no exact timeframe when it will be available.
I hope it won't take too long.
Stay tuned in this topic for info.

Models Sync?

I'm using version IDR 1.1 against Indigo 2.04 (database version11).

I notice that none of the devices list anything in "Model" field. For example, the following is what shows for the In-LineLinc in my laundry room:

Code: Select all
B Laundry Room
Description   Laundry Room Lights (Load)
Type   INSTEON
Model
Address   05.B3.8B
Options   Supports "On/Off" command
Supports "All Lights On/Off" commands
Supports "All Off" command
Supports "Status Request" command
Display in remote UI
Used in
Action Group   Basement Lights Off
Action Group   Basement Lights On
Action Group   Path to Laundry Room

How come?

That's because I haven't had the time yet to make a new version of IDR that is compatible with Indigo 2.
I'll put it on the agenda to get it working again.

I allready started development of IDR 1.2 a while ago but I had to wait until Matt finished Indigo 2 because of database changes.
So I've made the current alpha version ready to be used in the wild.

Please feel free to download it here: Indigo Database Report 1.2 alpha 3.

I'm possitive it will not show all Indigo 2 info. Therefore, if you find anything missing, just let me know and I'll try to fix as soon as possible.

After selecting the database file, I get an error message:

File G5 240G
HD:Users:[myname]:Desktop:IndigoDatabaseReport.html wasn't
found. (-43)

My HD is called "G5 240G HD" — I'm not sure why the message has a carriage return after the second "G."

Also, Spotlight doesn't find any file with that name.

Hmmm... Strange.
Is the IndigoDatabaseReport.html file visible on your desktop?

[update]

It has nothing to do with your hard disk name. Somehow the html can not be (re)written. Going for a debug...

Found it!

The XSL Tools that IDR relies upon where updated and I was still using an older version.
The disk image mentioned above is changed, so please download this new version and try again.

Indigo Database Report Error - Help!

When I browse to my database file and click on "Show the report..." I get the following error:

Finder got an error: Can't get file"yosappy:Desktop:IndigoDatabaseReport.html". (-1728)

I'm not sure why it is looking for a Desktop file when I just specified and easily Browsed to my Database file. Do you know what my problem is on this? I can't get it to run properly because of this error which I do not know how to fix.

After selecting your database file and pressing the button IDR generates a HTML file on your desktop with the name IndigoDatabaseReport.html . It then tries to open this file in Safari.
Somehow this fails.
No clue what -1728 refers to. Google is blank about this error.

Is the HTML file visible on your desktop?

Indigo Database Report Error - Help!

Yes, the IndigoDatabaseReport.html file is on my Desktop and when I double-click on it, it opens fine in Safari, on its own. So, I don't know why the application gives me the error and will not open the file. Strange.
