Error Installing HomeKitLink-Siri Plugin

Success! Or at least major progress.

I wasn't sure what was meant by "unzip the file then manually paste it into the Plugins folder" since the download package for HomeKitLink-Siri doesn't seem to be "zipped." But I had been just double-clicking the HomeKitLink plugin (in my downloads folder) expecting it to install itself like my other plugins. This always generated the error I posted.

So thanks to @ryanbuckner suggestion to manually paste it into the plugins folder, I did just that. I moved the plugin into the Indigo plugins folder manually. Still didn't show up automatically, but then I double clicked the plugin while it was in the plugins folder and it installed with no error.

I'm beyond thrilled

Thank you to everyone towards leading me to a solution and I'm noting this solution down in case I ever need it again! Thank you. Now I just need to begin adding devices... I think the rest of the setup should be good to go. Will close this topic if all goes well but it all looks good.

I'm glad that worked. The reason people are taking about unzipping is that plugins from the plugin store are downloaded as .zip files, so they have to be unzipped.

You don't happen to have the plugin on iCloud Drive at present? If you do try moving it to your home folder first then run it from there.

I would put money on its Durosity’s suggestion as above/here - your downloads drive is a icloud drive (default part of setup) and that causes issues.

To solve you can move the downloaded file anywhere else and double click and will install - would not move to the plugins folder prior to double click (may cause an issue)

I appreciate what's been suggested that my downloads folder is possibly on iCloud, but it doesn't seem to be. When I open the downloads folder and right click on the name "Downloads" at the top of the folder, it is clearly rooted on my hard drive and not in iCloud.

I haven't seen any issues yet with bringing up devices in homeKitLink and I've added about 20 devices so far... so good. Very nice to have working and I have a happy wife today when I told her that it's all coming back online.

Works great. Thanks for the help and a great plugin. If I had the mood-ring that I had as a kid I'm sure it would be glowing!
