Recommendation for outdoor temperature humidity sensor

Post by hamw »

I believe Oregon scientific is out of business. Could someone recommend some waterproof outdoor sensors available in the US that works with the RFX? Thanks! Or, if the next choice is simply Z wave, that could work too.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but we use a weather-proof DS-18B20 1-wire sensor mounted to the north side of our house. It's wired to an industrial 1-wire hub, but could just as easily be connected to an rPi or Arduino or something like that. It's never in the sun, but it does pick up a slight bit of radiant effect off the house. We don't need it to be absolutely precise, so I think it's good enough.

Not exactly waterproof, but I use an Aeon multi sensor. It's z-wave and I just put it in a sheltered location. For temperature measurement I'd just be sure there is adequate airflow where you mount it. Added bonus with this device is that it also reports humidity, motion and light.

That reminds me. There is a post about a new Zooz Outdoor sensor. I don't know anything about it so please don't consider this a recommendation.
