Manual device creation feature request

I noticed some github commits since the last release so I also tried just using the master branch. It still won't let me save the device and gives the same error.

Q: which device type do you want to convert to Shelly: Zwave, insteon ..?

The latest version on the plugin store is 7.14.40, which has read-only MAC address fields in the device configuration.

The master branch on github shows version 7.15.40 and includes editable MAC address fields in the device configuration. However, even after entering an IP address and MAC address, the device configuration will not save and says "ERROR: use menu/scan to create new shelly devices".

I understand there may be issues with replacing a device of one type with another, but I'll deal with that when I get to it. The first step is just being able to successfully configure the device at all.

I replaced a dead insteon bulb with a shelly vintage. I will also be replacing an insteon 30A controller with a shelly relay plus contactor, but I need to wire it in first. With all my insteon equipment starting to show its age, I wouldn't be surprised if I needed to replace additional lighting and appliance controls in the future.

The simple relays (shelly - 1, 1pm, 1L, dimmer, dimmer2, bulb, bulb duo, rgb2 ,smoke, gas, dw, dw2, flood,... ) should all work.

Not the shelly-em and shelly-25 types and not the temp/humidity sensors
They split into parent and child devices = they create 2+ devices

Creating another device from within an indigo create device process is not trivial.
Doing that sequentially within the plugin is much easier.


I could look into a follow on process to create the child devices if they do not exist, AFTER the main device was created.. but only if really needed.

Yes you can add temp sensor to pm1. And the plugin will be ok.

But you can not convert an existing indigo temp sensor to a Shelly relay+temp
.. and would not know How to do that one.
