Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

Autolog happened again

Noticed the Guest Bedroom running low - too low

It appears that the TRV device has Heat Turned Off when I would expect it to be On

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

It looks like the Setpoint for each schedule is getting lost between the config screen and the actual settings?

I think I have a fix for this - At some point today I will PM you a link to a test version that should hopefully fix this. :)

Autolog

Many thanks - very much appreciated - I am trying to bottom these out before I start working away from home again that will mean I have limited ability to resolve.

She who must be obeyed will not be able to get into Indigo :-)

My life will be painful at weekends ....

The Custom States show set points as Not Set

But when you select the Edit Device Settings it does have Set Points set.

I think I know how /why this may be happening. Looking into it now - it could be a Guest Mode I am using that sets the Guest rooms up for visitors..

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

May or may not be significant.

All 3 Spirits that have gone rouge - Report that the Valve is open 100% while the valve is actually at 0% are ALL firmware 0.16

My 0.15s have not yet failed.

If anyone else has had a Spirit go rouge as described above can you confirm the firmware version?

The ONLY way I have found to address this issue so far is to physically remove batteries and re-insert them.

Autolog is working on a software workaround.

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

Running the Test 1.4.0 plugin

Adjusted 4 of the Spirit TRV settings yesterday after the rouge Sprits reported earlier.

Dropped them down to a simple 1 Schedule below:-

I had expected to just maintain a steady 17C throughout the day.

Instead it dropped all four rooms to a target set point of 8C.

I found the rooms this morning at 15C then did a manual override on the Thermostats - that stabilised things.

But I suspect that the TRV Plugin will force them back to 8C again.

Any suggestions/pointers on what I have done wrong here and how to fix it?

Thanks

I don't think it is anything you have done :)

Continuing debug discussion via iMessage. :)

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

I've got similar issue - floor heating thermostat keeps resetting to 5C :)

BTW added "Generic Thermostat v2" manually to the XML file, so, for now, the only real issue it an electric floor one.

Any progress on enabling "smart thermostats self-management" - i.e. only to specify heat points (and enable global heating device if required)?

I haven't made an progress on that at the moment and can't offer an ETA. :|

Is it at all possible you set the target set point to include a decimal point in it, i.e. 18.5c 0r 21.5c

I have done a test on a Spirit and if I set TRV target to 18.5c I get weird behaviour, as soon as I set to a whole number it works ok.

My issues with this have stopped since I kept to whole digits...

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

Over the last week I have had three Rogue Spirits.

i.e. they appear to be fully functioning but are in fact remaining open or closed while reporting something different.

The one I just found, in the guest bathroom, had a lighten and was stuck in INS and unresponsive to button presses.

Taking out the batteries and reseating them fixed the problem.

I suspect that I may just, once a week go around and reset the batteries to ensure they continue to operate properly.

Need to think of a better way of doing it...

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

There watchdog plugin is a good one. Set for 30 minute checks and it send a pushover alert when a trv misses an update. I presume it's not responding to status requests when in that state?

Re: TRV Controller Discussion Thread

If a wakeup is missed, the plugin recognises that and flags the device with a timer icon. I guess it could more usefully set a state (which it doesn't at the moment). :)
