Air Play Server? ?

So I use Airplay with Airfoil a lot at home, and both work very nicely with Indigo. But there are times when it would be nice to be able to stream an analog audio source thru AirPlay. Some kind of software that would use my USB audio interface for input, and then have the ability to choose what AirPlay speakers to send it to, or at least to select that app in AirFoil to do the same. While Airplay is used in a lot of devices as clients, I haven't been able to find an Airplay server.

I thought if I set up a QT recording, and used QT as the Airfoil source that might work... but it didn't work. I can get this to work using Pro-Tools, but that seems like overkill .

I'm assuming Apple is happy to license the client side of this, but doesn't won't license the server side of Airplay. But, on the off chance someone has a better solution, I'm all ears!

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your request, but can't you do that in Airfoil already? It allows you to specify the audio input, including any audio input hardware sources. It allows you to specify any speakers (AirPlay, Chromecast, etc). What am I missing?

Jay you are right.. but I'm trying to find something less cumbersome than ProTools for the job. Just a lightweight app that would let you listen to audio from a USB device on your computer would be good, as I could route that thru Airfoil.

but I'm looking at Airfoil again, and see my USB device as a source, soooo that may work...

That's my point - Airfoil should do this directly without any extra apps required.

Like Jay says, Just select "Line In" in the Airfoil source list.
