Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

Hi

I have lost remote connection to the Indigo Server.

It used to work but not for a while now.

I get ReflectorConnection Down - The reflector connection between your indigo Server and Indigodomo.net is not currently up. Check your Mac network connectivity and try restarting the Indigo Server.

Have done so several times. Checked that remote access, password protected, is enabled.

Not sure what else to do to get it working again.

Have you restarted your Indigo Mac?

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

Wow that caused a flashback to my Windows days, that was not a pleasant trip.. :-)

Yes rebooted same issue.

From the Indigo Mac I can access indigodomo.net without issue.

So not actually a network connectivity issue, as reported.

Send us an email with an Event Log copy/paste showing what occurred after the reboot.

Ok

Have sent the email of the log.

The error I am getting is

Code: Select all
Error                           failed to create reflector connection: reflector not active

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

The Event Log snippet emailed didn't include the start (from when the Indigo Server started and tried to create the reflector).

Regardless, since it is showing it isn't active, the solution is to reset the reflector following these steps. It sounds like the reset button was hit at some point in your Indigo Account web page for the reflector, which will sever the pairing it has with Indigo Server on your Mac.

Try the 7 step "Manual Reset" section of the same wiki page.

Your reflector shows that it's no longer activated on the backend. Are you sure that you followed the steps in Activating Your Reflector after you reset activation?

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

OK went through the 7 steps again for third time.

Still no Reflector folder to delete so could delete that.

No joy at getting it going.

However, did do some extra steps that got it going.

On Step 7 noticed a button on the Start Local Sever screen - 'start activator' or something like that it took me to a url to re-enter my credentials.

The web page showed Activator and had another button to start activator (reset) button, clicked that and then pressed start local server on local Mac and it all came back up.

it looks like either there are more steps to reset than the instructions or I just couldn't see them.

None the less got it working again.

Thanks - you may need to revise those instructions ?

The instructions are correct. You must follow them exactly - many people having issues with them miss the Indigo Account log out and back in, and this can be key for some situations.

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

Yup followed steps 1 through 7 exactly two times.

Third time I did the undocumented additional required steps, obvious if you are prepared to deviate from the seven steps.

Between step 6 and 7

Press Start Local Server,

NEW Click on 'activate' Reflector (not sure of the actual word that was on the button that is only there when resetting the reflector).
That takes you to the website again and you login again.
Then you Select the 'start Reflector' (again can't remember exact word on button.)
Then go back to Start Local Server Dialog and press Start.

Then it all comes up and works.

It was only on the third attempt did I realise the Manual Reset was missing some steps.

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

I think the problem is the 7 steps are for resetting the reflector activation. After doing that you must activate the reflector (which is the chunk of steps further up in the document), which is what Jay explained above:

We'll look at making it more clear that after reseting the activation you then have to activate it.

Re: Reflector Connection Down (for a few days now)

The problem I am having is that Indigo is Too reliable....

It runs heating and lighting and cameras all around the house and it can go weeks, if not months without me having to touch it, because it just gets on and does the job.

If I had to fix, twiddle and play with it all the time I would find reseting the Reflector and restarting it easier.

Again a victim of your own success - there are worse issues to deal with!! :-)

Thanks for helping me through it.
