Small touch screens

I’m lucky enough to be staying on a mini cruise ship/super yacht hotel this week with work (Sunborn Gibraltar), the room has motorised curtains, smart lights etc controlled from a combined telephone with a big screen and also this small screenImage

It’s got me thinking again about having some really simple useable screens and I wondered if anyone has done anything similar with a dedicated small screen rather than the tablet approaches we talk about a lot

Re: Small touch screens

I’ve never seen any reasonably priced dedicated systems like that which aren’t locked down to a particular platform, like Control4. I guess that’s why tablets are so often used.. although I’d love something with dedicated buttons on it for certain tasks.

Re: Small touch screens

I’m quite happy with Amazon Fire 7 tablets, which can be had for as low as $30-$35. I don’t use any functionality other than the awesome Domopad front end app for Indigo.

@mundc
Would you be happy to share some pics?
I’ve just got my first fire through and need to get cracking on some control pages

I’m very time poor so I’m hoping to donate some beer tokens to anyone who is willing to share some nice images and the graphics so I can do it in days and weeks rather than the months that I just won’t get around to!!

It’s mainly Sonos control I’m after for mine but interested in everything People have done

Re: Small touch screens

I’ve been working on a wall mounted Raspberry Pi display for a while. It uses the official Pi display.

I’m writing it in Python/Kivy language. It’s a longtime work in progress that I pick up and put down. It uses an indigo plugin for some of it’s functions.

Thanks :D I'm looking forward to getting it to a stage where I can share it.

I'm about to start work on getting video supported from Security Spy so I can hook into my Doorbird video intercom's feed.

Who says your phone isn't watching what you're reading!
This popped up on my Flipboard this afternoon. Eery coincidence or what!

Again I like the simple consistent icons and simple set-up.

Re: Small touch screens

Speaking of Pi displays, this custom panel mount based on the Pi 0 looks interesting:

Re: Small touch screens

That looks very interesting. It says it runs industrial android. I wonder if it could run DomoPad?
