Control Chamberlain PD512 Garage Door Opener?

Long shot I know but was hoping someone might have hacked one of the Liftmaster Security 2.0 type openers
so that a momentary switch, i.e. Insteon Garage Module, could operate it?

I tried soldering leads to the supplied push button wall controller with no luck...maybe just suck at fine soldering.

Thanks,

Carl

Should just be able to wire parallel to the Red & White connectors on the door opener according to manual.

Yea, that’s what they told me before I bought it, wanting to confirm I’d be able to control it
with a momentary switch.....but no go.
It definitely requires a specific code not a contact closure.

I have a couple simple switches on order that claim to work with Security 2.0.
Hope I can solder some leads on it.

Thanks,

Carl

Did you ever figure this out?

I also have a garage door with security 2.0

If you just want to control the door, why not use a MyQ gateway? There is no subscription and there is a plugin for Indigo.

I was using the MyQ gateway and the MyQ plugin (which works great). However I cant disable the beeping sound every time the garage door closes using the plugin.

I ended up hacking a Chamberlain 3-button wireless remote control. I soldered 2 sets of wires (one for each garage) to the back of the 3-button wireless remote control and connected the other ends of the wires to two I/O-Lincs.

Works perfectly.

That's true. It does the same thing if you use the MyQ app to close a door. It's a safety feature. You should be sure you really want to circumvent designed safety features.

The beeping and flashing light are great safety features. However the beeping gets old fast when using a Keypad Linc to open and close the garage doors. We don’t really close the garage doors when we aren’t in the garage, however I think I’m going to add something like this as a safety for when we close the door remotely.

Thanks for the idea guys.
