Simple Temp device

Hi all,

My father has a small cabinet where all stuffs are packed (well organized with cable and so on)
MacMini, Modem/router, switches and so on.
He would like to monitor the temperature inside the cabinet and he found this Fibaro device:

https://www.amazon.it/Fibaro-FGBRS-001-Temperature-Freestanding-Wireless/dp/B075JPQRB6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1533488391&sr=8-1&keywords=Fibaro+FGBRS-001

Is ti supported by Indigo?
Which other possibility do I have to get temperature?

Ah, in the cabinet there is also a raspberry with pibeacon installed.
Maybe just a sensor connected to rPi?

Thanks
Marco

Re: Simple Temp device

With the use of the RFXtrx433E you can receive multiple sensors, not only temp/hum. The FT007TH is supported for example:
https://www.conrad.de/de/renkforce-ther ... 25532.html

And in addition you can control Intertechno, Somfy RTS blind motors.....

Re: Simple Temp device

I don't know if Indigo supports the temperature sensor you linked to. I don't believe that Indigo supports a temp sensor attached to a Fibaro door and window switch--but that may have changed when I wasn't looking.

I think it would be fairly easy to add a temp sensor to the rPi you already have in there, however, and that's the route I'd try first. There are compatible temperature sensors available or I think you can use a Dallas DS18B20 and a step-down resistor. Both options would be very low cost.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Re: Simple Temp device

+1 for using the Pi and Karl’s plug-in. I use this to monitor a wine fridge to keep my son’s medication at the right temperature. Plenty of examples for wiring this to the Pi, but if any issues I can help document for you. I am sure you can probably buy them with headers wired on eBay.

Once setup it works really well.

Thanks,
Neil

Re: Simple Temp device

I use this device to monitor the three zones in my wine cabinet. Works very well with Indigo.

https://www.vesternet.com/z-wave-fibaro-universal-sensor

It will support up to 4 of these, which appear as separate temperature devices:

Alternatively, if you only want to monitor one temperature you could connect a DS18B20 to on of these:

Re: Simple Temp device

That looks a neat solution. How do you power the universal sensor?

Re: Simple Temp device

I put it in a box with a little modular mains to 5v supply but I’d imagine a battery pack would last a decent number of months.

Hi, according to the Fibaro Binary Sensor Manual the supply voltage should be 9-30v DC. Are you sure it works with 5v?

I have used this power supply from Amazon UK with Fibaro Sensors (Binary Sensor and Window/Door) and it works fine:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00V2YFX3M/

You can set them to a voltage of your choice: 3/4.5/5/6/7.5/9/12v. They are rated at 600mA for 3v ouput which were the lowest I could find. At full power they consume 100mA at 220v input which is 22 watts but they will be using a lot less than that with these low powered Fibaro devices. They are German so I would be inclined to believe a lot better than cheapo Chinese imports.

Yes, slip of the typing fingers I'm afraid. I used one of these:

with one of these:

Just looking to do the same and wondering, do you just cut the end off and strip the 2 wires to use? I have all old 22v power supply lying around and wondering if I just cut the barrel connector off the end and use that?
