Modify Existing Plugin for Frigidaire Dehumidifier

I just picked up a new Frigidaire dehumidifier that has built-in WiFi for connection to Alexa (and whatnot). It's controllable via a standalone app and I was hoping I might be able to leverage one of the existing plugins to control it. It works remotely, so I suspect it requires cloud. There's only a few settings to control;

Power (on/off)
Target Humidity (up/down)
Fan Speed (high/low)
Timer (set 30 min increments/clear)

If copying an existing framework won't work, I'd appreciate a few pointers or online sources to learn how to go about starting from scratch. I have Wireshark up and running, but don't really know how to use it.

Yeah, I found stuff for homebridge integration and for IR commands, but I didn't see anything that was straight-up Python.

I don't mind the learning exercise if I need to go that route.
