had a lot of anxiety issues and panic attacks over stupid little things like when the heating wasn't turning itself on correctly and things.

I cannot begin to count how many times I've been through that. Where it's just not quite dialed in and you start questioning at what point was all this headache easier than turning on a light switch (something not lost on my wife either). I've wrested with ripping out my HA system so many times that I couldn't keep track. I took a long break from Indigo coding shortly after the HBB launch when I had a dozen people screaming about an issue that just couldn't be tracked down. Notice how this new version of HomeKit integration is a tightly controlled beta? Yea, there are reasons for that and my sanity is the #1 reason.

I get it.

Glad you came out unscathed and that you are healthy

Yeah. That’s exactly why I stopped trying to learn python and never released the few plugins I did write.. I was terrified it might cause some sort of issue as I’d seen you have. Not that the ones I created were anywhere near as useful as yours :D

Re: Indigo Automation 'Disease'

I'm pretty sure that I'd be single if I did that.

If I spent $5k+ on a curtain rod, I would actually be quite dead. Then she would sell the curtain rod.

It was three curtain rods for that total cost. So, much better. :D

Only if she could refrain from beating you to death with said rod.

There ain’t a court in the land that’d find her guilty.

In your case Dave, you may be able to just wire one of these in, and run those LED's off the white channel only.

I did wind up grabbing one of the devices you mentioned but haven't played with it yet.

I landed on a simple solution that worked for our particular circumstance. I took a USB charger from an old Nook--5V at 0.87A if I'm remembering right. I thought I might try to hook the fairy lights up directly since 3 AA batteries is probably the better part of 5v when new. Worked perfectly well, but the better part of an amp meant the lights were too bright for our taste. So I put a 22Ω resistor in line with the negative wire (I don't think it matters which one you choose) and soldered up the connections. Topped it off with a little bit of shrink tubing. Worked perfectly.

The lamp in question is near a floor lamp that's already controlled by Indigo and now this is too. The picture doesn't really do it justice.

The wife did a nice job arranging the lights -- it looks even better in person.

Re: Indigo Automation 'Disease'

So when shall I come over then? Might stay for dinner if that’s ok.. perhaps the night.. or a few nights..

(Since Jay evicted me from OUR house I’ve been living destitute on the streets. So.. uh.. I might stay a while)

Re: Indigo Automation 'Disease'

If I were an animal I’d most certainly be a cat.

We can share the same corner. If not we can do that weird fighting cats do.. batting each other..
