Re: Nanoleaf light panels

@ditch and @Different Computers, thank you both for your logs which has (I hope) enabled me to crack the problem. :)

I have uploaded version 1.0.3 for you to try.

The error (on my part) was to leave in a bit of testing code which was marked up with '**TEMP**' comments so I wouldn't forget to remove it!
The effect of this code was to fix the nanoleaf's IP Address to my physical device which explains why the plugin was working for me and not for you.

I still need to look at the initial discovery delay which means that the plugin can't control or get feedback from the nanoleafs while discovery is in progress - this will cause the nanoleafs to show a No Ack while this is in progress.

Anyway, give the new version a try and see what happens. :)

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

Hi,

I've just upgraded to v1.0.4 and it is now polling and finding a nanoleaf device, but it is returning an IP address and mac address that doesn't match what it is on the network. The IP address it's returning for me is 169.254.165.112, which is weird as I don't have any 169.x devices on my network. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Pete

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

169.x.x.x is the "dead end" subnet that devices make up for themselves when they can't get a proper address from DHCP.

@Different Computers: Thanks for the info :)

Hi Pete,
That sounds odd :?

Do you have both ethernet and wi-fi ports active?

I'll dig around a bit and see if I can work out what is happening.

In the meanwhile, it might be useful if you could turn on all the debugging and attach the log file to a reply or PM me a copy and I will take a look. :)

Further question: What address(es) does the System Preferences > Network panel show for the network adapter(s)?

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

Hi there,

I'm a bit perplexed as well I must say. I've deleted the plugin and reloaded it. I can in fact see the nanoleaf on the network now, and it has a valid IP address and different mac address. I've got two different network monitoring utilities which are both reporting that all is well. I'm not seeing anything that jumps out as a problem.

In addition, I only have one network interface which is ethernet which is a 10.x network address. The better half is a network engineer, so I know it's not a generic network issue, but always possible it's something specific to the nanoleaf, but I can control it fine via the app.

Thanks,
Pete

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

Hi,

Ah... the standard IT solution... turn the nanoleaf off, turn it on again.... and what do you know it's reporting the correct details now! And the plugin is working a treat thanks very much!

Thanks,
Pete

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

Thanks all for the feedback and most importantly the testing - apologies for the bumpy start - glad it now seems to be working for everyone AFAICS. :D

Re: Nanoleaf light panels

Maybe we should move future commentary about the workings of the plugin to autolog's forum.

Probably get Jay to move the whole thread into Jon's folder.

Folk will still find it when searching.

Done - and locked since it makes more sense to create individual topics for questions.
