No value update (interface freeze)

Hi I am running Indigo 7 with latest RFXcom plugin. Using RFXcom sensors, DS90 motion sensors, etc.
I have the issue that 1x RFXcom sensors and 1 DS90 sensor are not updated/no value change.
Also in the Indigo event log the wrong/freezed value is displayed (no update visible)
It seems that the Indigo RFX driver is freezing for several components.
On the same hardware its working using RFXcom/Windows and RFXmgr.

Please advice which steps i can take to short out this issue.

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Downgrade to 1,63 sorted out the issue. Al sensors are now working, and faster.
It seems there is a serious issue with the latest RFX plugin.

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Can you find the lines in the Event Log files that illustrate the problem?

And are all sensors not working or just those two?

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Hi,

Event log gives also wrong value (freeze value).
By playing around with USB disconnect, rebooting etc the latest correct value is displayed.
Only 2 sensors of the 14 around have this issue.
These sensors are working fine under 1.63 => also under RFXmgt software (on same hardware).
Adres changing doesn't sort out the issue.
Its really related to the RFXcom software version 1.63 versus the latest.

cheers Marcel

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

I don't doubt it might be the plugin, but I really need to see the Event Log window results showing the problem so I can troubleshoot it.

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

I have a similar problem. Some time after a reboot, all my sensors stop updating their values. There are no errors in the event log. I can press on/off for a wall plug, and there is no errors, but it seems no command is sent. I'm sending you a screenshot and the relevant log file per e-mail.
I will restart now and keep the RFXCOM plugin in debug to see if that produces any relevant log entries.

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Yes, a debug log would be great. Thanks.

Give me a day or 2 and provide you with the required information.

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

I've spent some more time investigating this and cannot track down what is occurring (or causing the problem). I compared all of the changes in the plugin from 1.6.3 to 2.1, and nothing jumps out that would cause this type of issue. Some additional questions for you:

Did you just downgrade the RFXCOM plugin, or did you revert back to running Indigo Server 6.1? I ask because we did update the version of the python serial library used from 6.1 to 7, so I'm wondering if that might be related to the problem. If you only downgraded the plugin then that won't be related.

Is it consistently the same 2 sensors that have the problem?

If so, what specific model are those sensors (and do you have the same model of sensors that aren't seeing the problem)?

Once the problem occurs, if you unplug the RFXCOM from the Mac for 1 minute and plug it back in do the sensors start working?

If not, does it start working if you choose the Plugins->RFXCOM->Reload menu item?

For me it's all sensors. And also that the commands (on/off) etc. that appears to be sent from Indigo is not actually sent, and no errors given

I haven't tried that, but can try the next time it occurs. This time it ran 12 days without problems before the problem occured. However, after the problem occured I went into plugin config to turn off debug, and got this error:
Code: Select all
2017-05-27 19:59:43.142   RFXCOM Debug   validating Prefs called
2017-05-27 19:59:44.729   RFXCOM   initializing communication on port /dev/cu.usbserial-05VN7Q8L at speed 38400
2017-05-27 19:59:47.746   RFXCOM Error   initialization failed (retrying in 10 seconds)

I haven't had any other USB problems, so don't believe it's that. It's been connected the same way to the same Mac mini for several years, and it's only recently I've had this problem. And it's a long time since I updated to new version of Mac OS X (running 10.9.5).

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Hi Jay,

I have tested the doorsensor (upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1 performed).
Its working fine => see attachment.
The temp sensor i will monitor, update follows tomorrow (not in the position to change the temp manually now).

I can also de-install RFXcom driver and install the 2.1 => will this make any difference/makes this sence?

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Hello Matt,

To given an answer on your questions (please be aware of previous update => DS90 is now working fine (after 1,63 to 2.1 upgrade):
Q1) downgrade => using only Indigo7 => installed the 2.1 and later after the issue reinstalled 1.63 (message you installing an old version). (still on v7).
Q2) RFXcom temp sensor + DS90 => yes from both i have multiple sensors, which were direct working perfect. (8x DS90 + 7 RFXcom temp)
Q3) unplugging => 1 minute i don't know, but yes disconnected and reconnected. I doesn't sorted out the issue. I had to reboot the Mac (with RFXcom disconnected), Connecting it and starting Indigo v7. Closing the app Indigo v7 was not sorting out the issue, also not reconnecting, but only by reboot.
Q4) RFXcom-reload => no differenc => see Q3.

Please advice => complete de-install of RFXcom and then new installation? Does that make sense?

cheers

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Hi Matt,

Attached the issue.
Temp value is not changing => see SO-TEMP is 20.8C
Event log specifies also 20.8C => but actual value is according to Homeseer and RFXcom meter: 23,9 versus 24. (sorry delay collecting info).
The same issue is occurring for sensor GF Living Temp (indigo 25C) and Homeseer (Temp Ground floor) and RFXcom meter 23,5.

I will down grade to 1,63,

Event log Indigo:

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Marcel – for clarification, when it gets into the bad state are there still some sensors that update correctly (UI updates and debug messages shown in the Event Log)?

Re: No value update (interface freeze)

Hi Matt,

Currently i am not sure, 2 are not working correctly yesterday, had not the time to verify everything.
Just had a chat with Bert, it seems that the wrong type is used.

De sensor die je in indigo gebruikt is een A/D sensor met subtype 01: 0770018B30001050
Packettype = RFXSensor
subtype = A/D
Sequence nbr = 139
ID = 48
msg = 160 mV
Signal level = 5 -80dBm

The idea is that the wrong sensor ID is selected

Voor een temp sensor moet het subtype 00 zijn. 0770008B30001050
Packettype = RFXSensor
subtype = Temperature
Sequence nbr = 139
ID = 48
msg = 0,16 °C
Signal level = 5 -80dBm

I don't see how to change this. Please advice.
