Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

I'm asking for my Dad who is trying to embrace the HA life that I've tried to drag him into :). He wants to open/close his blinds using HA and I had originally told him about my Add-A-Motor controllers that I really like but they really are mean for looped drawstring type operations and he has the single string blind (the kind where you pull straight to raise it than yank it 45 degrees to unlock the catch).

Is there a device that can "spool" the drawstring for an aftermarket solution so you don't have to buy a somfy or something?

Try Movez

I've got the Bluetooth version and it works fine. I'm waiting on the z wave version which they say should be delivered by March 2017.

Re: Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

Just ordered one of the above Movez ZWave motors. Hope it's for real.
The thing that has kept me away from openers has been the noise.
Somehow this one is, according to their video, is whisper quiet.
Won't ship till March though.

I'm in no way affiliated with the company. Just surprised at the price and sound level.

Re: Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

Are the MOVEZ's shipping yet does anyone know?
Are they any good? :?
All a bit vague on the website

Reluctant to fork out ~£70 without some positive feedback.

Re: Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

The last update I had on 15th August stated:
We are currently working with the last pieces of the puzzle and everything is still going according to plan, even though the time schedule is off. Many of you have contacted us about integration with different hubs. We are in contact with a 10-20 number of different hub manufacturers regarding integration of MOVEZ so it will work "out of the box". Otherwise, we are waiting for certifications that you know through the latest update. We understand that it's frustrating that the product development has been delayed but we are soon there and the result will be really good. Thank you for all the support and have a really nice week!

I placed my order in January this year for delivery in March :!:

Previously they had revised the date to July and then September.

I think patience is a virtue with regard to delivery for this device. :)

Over 2 years waiting for the Plum Lightpad, and an additional year and still no API. Patience has long since left the building.

Yea, it seems like it may be a dead-end. My Add-A-Motor controllers still work perfectly!

Re: Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

Latest update today - 16th September - states:
Current status
Hi from Sweden!
We are still working as fast as possible to complete MOVEZ with all things required.
That said, due to the delays we will add free batteries to all units!
4 x AAA Rechargeable NiMH batteries will be supplied to each MOVEZ unit.
We have tested a lot of different battery types with the product and the batteries that you will be provided is the best we have found.
Last but not least thank you for your patience and have a really nice weekend!

It looks like it will be slipping into the 4th quarter - hopefully not into next year

I think extreme patience continues to be a virtue with regard to delivery for this device. :)

Re: Aftermarket device for controlling blinds

Latest update received this evening:
We can happily inform that we are taking steps forward with the development of MOVEZ. Like we have mentioned earlier we have had some issues with code and components which have caused delays. But the list of things needed to be corrected is getting smaller every day. One of the biggest challenges that we did not anticipate this time around is how many different certification regulations we need to conform to. There are a lot more documents to go through this time compare to what we needed go through with the first bluetooth MOVE.
We totally understand that you all want MOVEZ now! We are pushing forward as fast as we can but unfortunately due to code and component problems we have not been able to get further in the certification process. That said and to give an estimate based upon the current situation we believe that we will be able to ship the first quarter of 2018.

Only a minor delay of a year since original delivery estimate - not bad!

Same experience.

Does anyone know whether this would fall within the normal range of delay and timing for tech products purchased through Indiegogo?
