Re: USB to Serial Driver? SNOW Leopard...

Have you tried the open source driver?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/osx-pl2303/

Snow Leopard Serial Driver

I downloaded the latest OS X serial driver from SourceForge and it does not work. Any other ideas? Perhaps its related to the 64-bit kernal or modifications to the default 32-bit kernal.

The open source driver is exactly that - open source from the community. I did find this post on their website:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=804838

The hardware maker, Prolific Technologies, doesn't appear to have a Snow Leopard driver:

http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31

Notice the date on the newest Mac driver is 2007/3/21. If that's the one you have installed, and it's not working, then unfortunately I think you'll have to wait until either the open source community or Prolific updates the driver.

I'm not sure why it isn't working. Based on the comments on the Open Source PL2303 driver site, it sounds like it should work. It won't work if you boot your OS X kernel in 64 bit mode, but by default OS X 10.6 boots the kernel in 32 bit mode (because otherwise almost all existing drivers would break).

You might want to try removing the .kext file and re-installing it again.

I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Has anyone with the USB CM11 gotten it working with Snow Leopard? If so, are you using the open source driver or the Prolific driver?

Did you make sure to uninstall (delete) all the old drivers (both the open source driver and any older versions of the prolific driver)? If not, then try that and a reboot.

What was the issue - maybe it will help others that might experience the same problem...

[EDIT] Ah, the CM15 doesn't use the prolific driver does it...

the Problem is..
my Machine is a INTEL PC not a MAC...
PC with Mac System

its verry Cool
in the Version of OSX check the Driver with PCI-Edit or Profil edit who can see the IDs all components you have connected with your PC
so
after tath can edit the Original Driver to bbedit and insert the ID from USB-Serial dongle
so
repair Permission

Restart

Funktional and is verry COOL with the OLD version of CM11

the CM15 is a USB version
connect it, select the cm15 from Indigo
Finished..

i have the New version and the OLD version
ehm
my OSX SNOW is a PC-MAC with Old version, and my Working Computer is the CM15 with Original MAC-SNOW System

Ah, that would probably explain it. FYI, we don't support unsupported Mac hardware (i.e. non-Apple hardware).
