Skipping the password on my site

I have an Indigo Control web page that I use on my web site and now my iphone to access my house functions. It requires authentication.

Is there a way to type the web address with something like username=bob&password=entry to the web address?

If there is, I could book mark this and make accessing the site easier when using the iphone and keyboard.

Even better, if this could be done, people could use

to make an icon that would drop them into the indigo controller.

Any ideas?

I think the syntax most browsers accept for this is:

http://username:password@site.yourdomain.com/path

I am not sure about the colon, but the "at" sign is the next one for sure. I am not sure if this would work on an iPhone or iPod touch, but it does work in desktop browsers. Let me know if you have success.

It worked well

per your guidelines, I used

http://bob:i8u7y6@myhome.com/page2/private.html

To get it to work, i pointed the site/path to a level inside the protected area.

Haven't tried with yet with Https sites but hopefully it will give the same results.

Thank you,
