Implementing a slider control that works with iPhone

Has anyone been able to create controlpages that include a slider, for the dimming of lights, that works with the iPhone?

Where did you find iPhone compatible slider code?

Any input into the implementation in Indigo is also very much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm after something similar for control pages on a Nokia N800. Would be very grateful if anyone had any example code!

Skaff.

Good suggestion - I'll investigate some options.

I'll also be going to an iPhone Dev day hosted by Apple in Chicago next week and will see what kind of neat hackery I can learn to apply to control pages on the iPhone. :)

Me too!

Gang, I also would like to know how to implement sliders. Has anyone developed a How-to for iPhone control pages as well? I've got the gist from the manual but would love to hear the nuances that make it work best.

Unobtrusive Slider

Has anyone messed around with this?

It seems to work on Mobile Safari. I haven't had a chance to try integrating it into my control pages yet.

Ok, I got the sliders for the iPhone fixed. Different handling of the DOM in mobile Safari vs. Firefox or Safari 3.

I'm testing more, and then I'll submit it to PA for inclusion in the next Indigo Release.

Andy's changes are spread out across several files (JS, CSS, Cheetah template, etc.). If it were just a line or two changed I copy/paste it to the forum so you could try it out, but for now you'll have to wait a bit for the next beta. ;-)

Regards,
Matt

Did this ever get released? I don't see a Slider control in the control page editor.

Re: Implementing a slider control that works with iPhone

The sliders got deprecated several versions ago. The native iPhone/iOS application uses sliders for dimmable modules if you have the on click action set to popup controls, but that only works from Indigo Touch (not from browsers).

Re: Implementing a slider control that works with iPhone

Thanks for the reply. I was really looking for a slider than can be embedded in a control page, rather than a popup control. Is this possible?

Not currently, but it is definitely something I would like to have eventually. :-)

Re: Implementing a slider control that works with iPhone

Just an FYI, the slider in jQuery Mobile works fantastic for mobile safari.

Most sites I build moving forward (even non mobile) are going to use jQueryMobile to make the form elements more accessible.

Just figured I'd share.

Great tip -- all of those controls look really good. We'll check them out.
